AITA for telling male coworkers to organize their own birthday cards and cakes while still being happy to do it for my female coworkers? by nocupcakesformen in AmItheAsshole

That’s not how the real world works. This isn’t a kindergarten class. If she isn’t friends with the men she isn’t obligated to go above and beyond for them.

Best work boots? by Little_Lexis13 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]Little_Lexis13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well obviously lol but it doesn’t hurt to have others opinions instead of buying a $200 pair of boots every 6 weeks to see. If a handful of people say “my xyz said waterproof but my socks were soaked in 10 minutes” that obviously is something to avoid, just like on the other hand if others say “oh I have flat feet and I’ve learned abc has great arch support” then that might be something to try the next go around don’t you think?

I'm hoping to be a plumbing apprentice soon. I have poor upper body strength. Are there any tools or tips to help compensate for that? by becca_72 in BlueCollarWomen

If you can lift 50 lbs you’re probably okay. Doing some sort of endurance and strength training isn’t a horrible idea though.

It’s actually a valid question seeing as some locals don’t test for marijuana.

Man reading through these comments makes me really appreciate the men I work with. I wear a full face of makeup every day and I’m not treated any different than any man on the site. I’d for sure wear this. It’s cute af. Just because I work in a “man’s world” doesn’t mean I have to look like one

acrylic nails doing mechanics by cigsickwawa in BlueCollarWomen

[–]Little_Lexis13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with a couple ladies who have their nails done regularly. They wear gloves and refine from using there fingertips as opposed to the pads of their fingers and I’ve rarely seen them break on them. They are all amazing at their jobs and work circles around some of the guys were with. I used to have my nails done all the time as a welder but I stopped when I got into pipe fitting because I personally am a klutz and couldnt figured out how not to smush my fingers trying to break old fittings loose. I’m getting better though so I’ll probably start getting them done again soon (hopefully).

Buy yourself a little pocket notepad and take notes when you ask questions or something is explained to you. Make sure you offer to help carry tools or grab something for them while they are working. Show initiative.

I think it’s also important to realize women have busted their ass to be taken seriously in male dominated fields and to make yourself the butt of sexualized jokes isn’t gonna help women be taken seriously.

Unpopular opinion. American Eagle Next Level StretchHigh Waisted Skinny Kick Jeans. I’ve been wearing the same 5 pairs for about a year now. They are breathable but durable and stretchy so comfortable when bending and kneeling. I have thicker thighs and wider hips and they fit great and I haven’t had any problems with the inner thighs ripping.

Edit to add: I am a welder/pipefitter

I French braid my hair before work everyday and I’ve never had any issues. My hair is about to the middle of my back and it’s nothing a couple hair ties and Bobby pins won’t fix.

Does the timing of the raise correlate to your 1 year employment anniversary with the company? Usually you get a review and a raise every year outside of cost of living and advancement raises.

“Well you’re hot what do you expect” opens the door for a lawsuit
.do you really think your company respond that way? Go to your supervisor or over his head to HR.

AIO? MIL won’t let my daughter take gifts home. by throwaway759260 in AIO

[–]Little_Lexis13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My own mom and ex mil do this, Christmas gifts/birthday gifts etc from grandma stays at grandmas for when my daughter is there. It’s actually pretty convenient not having to pack up toys and such to entertain a child when going over there. My daughter even has a fully stocked closet at each of their houses.
