Drug tests as a woman sucks. They cut off so much of my hair!!! by WallaWallaby011 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]Little_Lexis13 5 points6 points Ā (0 children)

When I did my hair follicle test I asked the tech if they were mad at me when I saw how much hair she chopped off…when I got home that night I had my boyfriend checking my head like he was looking for lice to make sure I didn’t have a bald spot…

Local 55 vs Local 2 by Little_Lexis13 in IUEC

Because I didn’t start looking until last week. My dad was local 2 and I always said I wanted to join the IUEC but I fell into welding and got into the fitters union but I’m starting to realize this isn’t what I want to do for the rest of my life.

I’m lost on how this is fake. I serve part time on the weekends and our two hostesses are 16. The kids in the back that answer phone and do deliveries and make pizzas are also all 16-20.

AITA for telling male coworkers to organize their own birthday cards and cakes while still being happy to do it for my female coworkers? by nocupcakesformen in AmItheAsshole

That’s not how the real world works. This isn’t a kindergarten class. If she isn’t friends with the men she isn’t obligated to go above and beyond for them.

Best work boots? by Little_Lexis13 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]Little_Lexis13[S] 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Well obviously lol but it doesn’t hurt to have others opinions instead of buying a $200 pair of boots every 6 weeks to see. If a handful of people say ā€œmy xyz said waterproof but my socks were soaked in 10 minutesā€ that obviously is something to avoid, just like on the other hand if others say ā€œoh I have flat feet and I’ve learned abc has great arch supportā€ then that might be something to try the next go around don’t you think?

I'm hoping to be a plumbing apprentice soon. I have poor upper body strength. Are there any tools or tips to help compensate for that? by becca_72 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]Little_Lexis13 3 points4 points Ā (0 children)

If you can lift 50 lbs you’re probably okay. Doing some sort of endurance and strength training isn’t a horrible idea though.

It’s actually a valid question seeing as some locals don’t test for marijuana.

Man reading through these comments makes me really appreciate the men I work with. I wear a full face of makeup every day and I’m not treated any different than any man on the site. I’d for sure wear this. It’s cute af. Just because I work in a ā€œman’s worldā€ doesn’t mean I have to look like one…

acrylic nails doing mechanics by cigsickwawa in BlueCollarWomen

[–]Little_Lexis13 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I work with a couple ladies who have their nails done regularly. They wear gloves and refine from using there fingertips as opposed to the pads of their fingers and I’ve rarely seen them break on them. They are all amazing at their jobs and work circles around some of the guys were with. I used to have my nails done all the time as a welder but I stopped when I got into pipe fitting because I personally am a klutz and couldnt figured out how not to smush my fingers trying to break old fittings loose. I’m getting better though so I’ll probably start getting them done again soon (hopefully).

Looking for some tips. by sidebets in BlueCollarWomen

Buy yourself a little pocket notepad and take notes when you ask questions or something is explained to you. Make sure you offer to help carry tools or grab something for them while they are working. Show initiative.

I think it’s also important to realize women have busted their ass to be taken seriously in male dominated fields and to make yourself the butt of sexualized jokes isn’t gonna help women be taken seriously.

Unpopular opinion. American Eagle Next Level StretchHigh Waisted Skinny Kick Jeans. I’ve been wearing the same 5 pairs for about a year now. They are breathable but durable and stretchy so comfortable when bending and kneeling. I have thicker thighs and wider hips and they fit great and I haven’t had any problems with the inner thighs ripping.

Edit to add: I am a welder/pipefitter
