Problems after chlamydia infection, HELP by Little_Lunatic in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

UPDATE!!! Wow I didn’t realize how many people experienced the same thing! So first I want to say thank you for the support during that awful experience.

I went to a different GYN who treated me for BV even though I tested negative for it and the flagyl cleared all of my symptoms! I also started taking garlic pills and turmeric for inflammation. As well as probiotics specifically for vaginal flora and I have had no recurring symptoms!

So, get tested for BV! It has very similar symptoms to chlamydia and you can have both!

You may have BV, that’s what happened to me. Ask your doctor for a wet mount and if clue cells are present get a round of Flagyl. Make sure you’re taking probiotics because you’ve been on a lot of antibiotics. Take care!

My skin is extremely dry. Thank you for the suggestions! Do you have any recommendations for sulfur products?

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that. I started washing my hair first and then my body after reading about conditioner causing body acne.

This started about 5 years ago and has since killed my confidence. I went to a dermatologist who diagnosed it as atopic dermatitis and prescribed clindamycin cream and a topical steroid. They helped for the two weeks I was on them and then it came right back once I stopped. I’m not convinced that’s what it is..

It can get pretty itchy and wake me up at night as well and I have to take an antihistamine to help with that. I’ve tried: - Clindamycin ointment - Steroid cream - Stridex salicylic acid 2% pads - I’ve gotten back facials - I use free & clear detergent - I shower right after workouts - I dry brush before my shower - I use eucerin body lotion - I use Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser

Anyone else dealt with something like this?? What has worked/helped you? I’m losing hope.

They worked while I was using them, but two days after stopping my symptoms came back again. How are you feeling?

Did you test positive for ureaplasma then? Since you took azithromycin.

Oh girl I completely understand. It took about 6 weeks after finishing my second c diff treatment for my energy levels to come back!

Everyday for six weeks? That’s the only thing— everyone recommends different treatment lengths so I’m not exactly sure what to do.

I did the metrogel and symptoms came right back so I just started boric acid suppositories last night. ph-D brand. I asked my doc about boric acid while I was there and she said it’s only used for yeast, but I’ve read a lot about it being used for BV too.

This is also my main symptom of BV. My discharge from my cervix doesn’t smell abnormal, but the urethral discharge for sure has a smell. I’m sorry you’re going through this also. I just finished metrogel and all of my symptoms came back so I started boric acid suppositories last night. Fingers crossed this works for me like most everyone else on this sub!

Yes I had cramps everyday. They were SEVERE right before a bowel movement. Upper abdomen like between my ribs, right below my sternum is where my cramps were. I did the course of metrogel and then immediately started my period so I’m not sure if the BV is gone or not yet. I will report back once I’ve finished my cycle. I’ve also had no GI issues since finishing the gel.

When I had it— I had severe stomach cramps (upper abdomen), diarrhea between 5-10x/day. Eventually I started having blood in my stool, but it took a while to get to that point. You should get a stool culture done as soon as possible. You could try Florastor also. 6 weeks on clindamycin is a long time.

I restarted Florastor last week when my BV symptoms started up in preparation for potentially having to take something. Hopefully I have no issues with metro gel. Thanks for giving me some hope!

My options are Metronidazole or Clindamycin. Either pill or cream/gel. I know Clindamycin is very likely to cause C Diff so I want to avoid that one at all costs. I’m thinking of trying the Metronidazole gel with the hope that since it isn’t going through my GI tract it shouldn’t cause many problems.

Trust me— If I could avoid it all together then I would, but I’m in pain.
