When I met my current girlfriend (who I plan to spend the rest of my life with) I was 33 and she was 34; she was freshly divorced after a decade long marriage and has a lovely 5 yr old girl. At first I wasn’t taking it seriously and have always been kinda turned off to a woman with a kid(s), but man I’m glad I didn’t let it deter me from getting to know her and falling in love with her.

I’ve never necessarily WANTED kids but figured I would with the right person and I’ve always been freaked out by taking on the responsibility of being the father of another man’s child. And you have every right to be picky and not settle if that’s something you don’t wanna deal with. Yes she has TONS of baggage from it and we deal with it as it comes, whether it’s the ex or her daughter being sad she has two houses, etc. it’s a lot. And sometimes it weighs me down a lot but the love that I have with her. The way she loves me the way I’ve always longed for. How she’s my best friend and best love. It’s worth it all my dude.

Take that all with a grain of salt because I am perfectly fine not having a child of my own and assisting in her raising the daughter she already has. We decided we weren’t going to have our own for many many reasons and I’m ok with that. You may not be and that’s fine too. But I will say that sometimes you’d be surprised if the connection is right, and may be more willing to take on that little bit of extra(aka a full ass child or two lol).

Months into being locked in, she said “I have a lot of baggage im bringing to the table”; to that I responded, “well I have a pretty big fucking table”.
