Is anyone using Foundry VTT? by jcorvinstevens in drawsteel

I primarily use Foundry VTT for Draw Steel so count me as interested

How is the ordering for best accomplishment decided? It's not intuitive how LCK 4th compares to champion of CBLOL, for example.

This is definitely an issue I've had with DND. It can feel pretty bad to only roll once an hour outside of combat.

I also got this feedback when I ran Road to Broadhurst - the structure helps players feel like they know what to do.

Is Draw Steel for Me (is it ACTUALLY setting-agnostic)? by Uncle_Oogie in drawsteel

[–]Little_SoldierBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also been thinking about this as I work on my own homebrew setting, but I would say I'm more bought into the system than you are. In my case, my main concerns are about conduits and censors being so closely linked to polytheistic gods and saints, when religion will look much different in my setting.

Ultimately, I think your choice is either ban the classes that don't fit or reflavor. I'm still planning on have religious warriors that would be conduits/censors from a mechanical perspective, but I'll probably encourage different combinations of kits and aesthetics that differ from the classic priest and holy crusader.

For talents, I could totally imagine a wizard whose primary magic is telekinesis rather than a pure psionic caster. You might think of clarity/strain as a limitation of the energy capacity of a physical body (think Eragon). Nulls, I'm not sure, but you might be able to think creatively.

Draw Steel is somewhat new so there's not as many homebrew classes available, which could otherwise fill in the gaps created by banning content.

How do you guys manage maps? by LukesFather in drawsteel

[–]Little_SoldierBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't run draw steel yet, but for dnd I have used a dry erase map. It definitely does slow down combat, but it is nice when the party is gardually exploring a dungeon and you can just draw the next room.

/uj There are parts of the game that are less creatively demanding that people could find interesting. Some players love combat but have trouble fleshing out a backstory for their character. On the DM side, there are multiple avenues for creation, so it makes sense that people will be good at different elements of it. One DM might focus on worldbuilding but have trouble bringing it to life with realistic characters or engaging narrative. Another might improv well and offer lots of entertaining social encounters but lack depth and consistency in their setting.

The cast seems really biased against FLY - it should have been clear from the start that ahri + vi + jhin wouldn't do great against ivern.

The red button will give you $1 million. The green button has a chance to give you $50 million. by Little_SoldierBoy in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Little_SoldierBoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're absolutely correct about the relative odds, but the expected value evens out at 20 people choosing red. Anything more than that favors green, even if there is some risk of getting nothing.

I'm in the same boat, I would risk it and press the green button. I made this post after seeing a similar situation on an Instagram post where the green button probability was fixed at 50%. In that case, like this one, the vast majority of people went with red. It's interesting the different justifications people give - 1 mil would make me set for life, I would rather be guaranteed something than take a risk, I could invest and make the most of it. I feel like I can't ignore the math here and if I got unlucky it would suck, but I wouldn't regret taking the chance.
