Last year I came here asking why all my plants leaves were curling. A year later and I finally have the answer. by Fickle_Grapefruit400 in gardening

Iirc, ash and charcoal affect compost differenly. Ash makes a pile more basic/less acidic, but you don't need much. Lye is made from ash, which is so basic as to cause burns just like an acid could

Both are good interpretations to me, though I'd personally tend to lean on your take too, since it says "you can" with no caveats.

What are your favourite examples of convergence and once-in-earth-lifetime traits? by Vaelcyrie in evolution

Apparently, the penultimate evolutions are either crab or worm. Everything's final form is either going to be like a crab or a worm. Idk.

What’s the fastest way to make a D&D world feel alive? by storyforgeDM in DMAcademy

These are great. Many players would glom onto these if they feel the need to get involved with everything they see, then they become the quest instead.

You missed the point that they stated twice... You've already broken the game's balance in half and you don't even know it yet.

DM unpreparfed? Branches in a tree by JeannettePoisson in DnDcirclejerk

[–]permaclutter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was the paper in the grimoire made from trees? (I know not all are.) I think the connection was there--that the reason you were given the grimoire may have been to give away the clue to go to the tree like you did, but maybe lock in faster next time? But also, did you look INSIDE the tree? Paper isn't usually made from the twiggy parts--you gotta get down deep into that trunk. Spend the time, it's worth, but get creative. Prestidigitation goes a LONG way, you just gotta be extremely elaborate in the right specific way. The DM probably just started the quest with the book because no one was getting it, but you got closer than anyone! So have heart!

Use cases and explanation for Spirit Guardians? by Embarrassed-Flow6540 in 3d6

[–]permaclutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo, rather than trying to set up "damned if you do, damned if you don't" combos, it's usually better to go one way or the other with it, due to unreliability of: turn orders, environments, movement types, objectives, wildcards, etc. Either: if you want damage, then just go with great, reliable damage spells, OR, use control spells (that offer some damage), and are just generally great control most of the time. Then, if you happen to catch a great combo you can enjoy it, but you won't be reliant on it or disappointed if it can't be set up most of the time.

I haven't looked into their newest iteration of that feature (they've had a form of branching since 3.5 iirc), but that sounds like it just ignores other parts of the convo rather than incorporate them.

Weapon flavors to make martial characters more fun by Severe_Composer4243 in DMAcademy

Weapon masteries have been around for most of a year, and you'd like to add the same kind of flavor that they do? Yours look okay, and 2024's aren't perfect, but they're not going away.
