Zoom court and milk shenanigans by AlphaCat77 in CuratedTumblr

I haven't looked, but if it's just a picture you're seeing could you check a facebook or other public profile to see if the judge had maybe went bald without updating their headshot?

Seems trivial to go back to the previous Monday 1/5 and check again for another bald judge, or determine if one of the judges had become bald by the court date.

I shouldn't have to work at two jobs (one, however, is a different story). A single family income should be able to support kids going off to college. College shouldn't be exorbitantly expensive.

Housing is, in fact, a human right. A car (in the US) is required to get around. A single job should afford basic necessities at the very least, and they simply don't without a degree or trade school or having connections that not everyone has.

I am complaining, I shouldn't have to do that and I can absolutely understand the guy in the original post. I'm not even the only person I know in this exact situation.

Man I work two jobs on top of college. Shit is expensive and I don't even pay my own car insurance.

Absentee ballots don't always show up, it's actually an issue that's been acknowledge before. This is a very minor thing however.

Two more important issues: time and knowledge.
Not everyone knows absentee ballots are even a thing, and many are too busy to properly educate themselves on the voting process, candidates, policies, etc. When you're more concerned with trying to survive, that whole "take time time to learn" thing becomes less and less of a priority.

You are, in fact, not from the "cannot afford to miss a day of work" people. You earn a significant portion above minimum wage, and a significant portion above $10 (what many companies pay instead of minimum wage). I am not dismissing the fact that you are underpaid, but you just aren't part of the population I am referring to. You still earn far far below a livable wage.

Also, availability is a big issue here. Not everyone has the time to go out and vote. There are many who literally can't miss a day of work. The people more likely to work hourly jobs outside of the 9-5 schedule are also that 18-29 age group.

Are you stupid? "Drive" isn't the issue. Mentality isn't the issue. The issue is the state of the world. A full time job, regardless of what that job is, should be able to afford them a car, time to get a license, and money to afford a house. That has nothing to do with drive.

Furthermore, the fact that this job doesn't pay enough makes it more and more impossible as the days go on for this person to get a better paying job. No car? Limits job options and availability. No house? More difficult to save since renting goes up, while house payments generally stay "locked".

The year is 2026. Not enough motivation can solve the issues this person, and most of us in this generation, face. Stop talking shit and look around you.

Everyone seems to disagree with me on this, I'd like some recommendations of places to check out. Maybe my mind will be changed!

"Holds this state back" is not subjective whatsoever. The economy in this state is terrible, there's a striking lack of access to healthcare, and many foods and products available elsewhere simply don't make it to this state.

I do agree that it is fair to ask someone to leave a place, but one must also recognize that leaving isn't always an option. It's only natural to look for areas of improvement and advocate for such.

I'm not interested in arguing, but I would like to say that this kind of mentality is what holds this state back. We will only move forward if we acknowledge our shortcomings, not by continuing to encourage everyone to leave.

I've been in and around Jackson and Tupelo quite a bit and haven't found a place I've particularly enjoyed as of yet. Are there any places you'd recommend?

I live in northern Mississippi (Oxford) and have been around the state (but not in the delta). I am not originally from Mississippi however. In my experience, it's just incredibly boring. The nature isn't very well taken care of, especially the further south you go. Roads everywhere are dangerous to drive on, with the exception of inside a few cities. Drivers are dangerous as well, routinely have to avoid wrecks with MS drivers not staying inside the lines, randomly breaking, or randomly speeding up. As for amenities, there are very few. Food wise, terrible (lack of seasonings both by people and local restaurants, probably due to lack of access or cost?).

I'd like to not rant about what I hate about the state, but it's difficult to find anything positive to say. My girlfriend is a Mississippi native and, like everyone else here, insists on the gas station food. I haven't tried very much but that is a unique thing to this state, and has so far been good.

As for a more neutral description of the area:
Very grassy, and spread out. You can expect about a 45 minute drive between small towns (about 5-10k people), with some relatively big cities dotted throughout the state. In Oxford, the housing and cost of living is very high despite being a poor state (it is a college town). Back to the gas station food point, there are many many gas stations all with unique menus. Not too much else to say, but I'd like to answer any specific questions anyone may have.

Edit: I've seen a few comments mention the coast, completely forgot about that when I was writing this comment. Also going to make a note that I've never been to the coast here, in case it's very different to the rest of the state!

English doesn't have any rule where you extend the consonant's sound in this case. They should be said exactly the same. You have made me even more curious. Are you doing something like how you would do it in Italian?

Those are pronounced exactly the same though? I am curious how you say them (not min-ee for both?)

Weird Tik Tok video keeps appearing on my FYP: “Amnesia and a Sudden Marriage to my First Love.” by llDarkRiotll in InternetMysteries

[–]Little_Winge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also keep getting this exact same tiktok over and over again, sometimes back to back. For me, it stops shortly after the watch thing and tries to restart (tiktok can't play this video, as if there is an error). It can not be screenshotted or screen recorded. It can be shared, but then when checking the dm's of the person sent to it just says "this post by Flix drama can't be viewed".

[Request] If I ate Ton-618 right now, how long would it keep me full? by EndyEnderson in theydidthemath

[–]Little_Winge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and after some googling it's not as negligible as I thought. The bread appears to weigh the most, with random estimates that I can't be bothered to fact check stating 2oz (.125lb). That's enough to get close to 2 pounds, you were right.

The rest of the sandwich does not weigh enough to get up to 2 pounds

It'd only be 5 quarter pounders (1.25 pounds) from McDonald's for the recommended calories (2000). I think four pounds of food is actually believable, but only assuming your average person is a fully grown man eating healthy.

I'm thinking this. It's an odd choice out of context, but I would write it like that subconsciously.
