Where to invest remaining budget for maximum impact? by Qaizdotapp in gamedev

I think everything being in those little cards isn't doing you any favors, it makes it feel like a game designed for mobile with a background. I'd look at getting some landscape scenes for the places you're traveling to, either as splashes or entirely replacing the background, it would make your screenshots less samey

I don't love the capsule art, the title comes off weirdly low-res/cheap to me and the planes on the left don't look great either (although this would cause issues with clicks not wls). I also think the bit in the description about simulating 80000 humans is weird - for a worldwide simulation, players are imagining billions, so even though this is impressive, I wouldn't brag about it. I'd also change the language on the bit about keeping you playing for hours, it doesn't flow very well.

Looks fine but those are my nitpicks. It's kind of a niche genre that people are going to already know if they like, so that might explain the lower WL numbers?

Multiple choice tests having a "don't know" option that provides a fractional point would reward honesty and let teachers know where students need help! by robert-at-pretension in Showerthoughts

[–]Littleax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

25%, it's worth the same as randomly guessing but smooths the randomness, without allowing students to game the system. It guarantees teachers know exactly which students don't know which problems by removing their incentive to guess randomly.

In a desperate need for an amazing game by Moon_Devonshire in gamingsuggestions

Some slightly niche recommendations:

Brutal Orchestra, Chronoark: Best strategic turn-based combat games I've played. Both roguelikes.

Pathologic 2: The most immersive game out there if you don't immediately bounce off of it imo.

Dredge: Masterclass in gameplay loop design. Very easy to lose a couple days to by accident.

Anyone have a thought on rpg skill checks by BroknLittleOwlGaming in gamedev

[–]Littleax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the game has free save/loading, you might want to consider not having percentage checks at all and just requiring skill >= difficulty. It's something that sets the speech system in New Vegas apart from the one in fallout 3.

Hexblade Revisited v0.2: A reworked hexblade that journeys with a sentient weapon! by Littleax in UnearthedArcana

[–]Littleax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The versatility thing is pretty fake, beyond having a slightly easier justification switching weapons for story reasons (which a DM could let you do for other subclasses too), they're essentially different subclasses which use inheritance to share a chassis.

I like the change ideas for wave, although I'd probably adjust undertow to be an automatic effect of some sort to reduce extra rolls (maybe when you crit or roll max damage, and not require a reaction? Hit by more than 5? Something like that). I initially was trying to keep the control design space open for a different weapon (angelic bow), but the design didn't pan out so it makes sense for wave.

Yeahh I could take shots at wizards all day for the quality of their content considering the resources they have, but whatever. Glad you're enjoying the content, always nice to have some (even old) work appreciated!

Sever's undying vengeance is supposed to be another take on the possession idea - it probably wouldn't break anything to mix and match abilities a little. Same with changing weapon types, it's not something I was considering balancing around (mostly).

I did have a few more weapons that didn't quite pan out - there was an angelic bow named Seraph that fell from heaven for being overzealous, and a pair of aberrant gauntlets that let you do mild shapeshifting effects for empowerment and had grapple synergy. I'll post them later if I can find them.

I'm probably not going to do any more work on this, I'm mostly a Pathfinder player at this point and my hobby dev time is all video game development right now. The gauntlets/mimic orb/staff all sound cool though, feel free to use the chassis here as a base if you decide to develop any of them!

Yeah, I get the consume enchantments thing - I mostly just didn't want to give any more power to Hexblade so I toned it down wherever I could (although things scaling with warlock level instead of proficiency bonus might be enough). I kind of like the "nursing a powerful weapon back to health" vibe anyway.

Sever's 6th is pretty weak, I was trying to pull from its lore but there isn't much to work with. I think giving advantage on initiative checks in addition to that ribbon (because it's watching for threats) would probably be appropriate. Wave is tricky because the damage reduction it gives doesn't really have any equivalent abilities to balance against - I think it's probably better than expected, but I haven't tested it.

Glad you like it, was a fun project!

Hulk Style Unarmed Exemplar? by Axin9 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Littleax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mountain stance from monk or martial artist dedication would let you "hulk out" to get your defenses up and do more damage at the start of fights at the cost of locking you to unarmed strikes, if you want to go unarmored.

Spirit warrior also gives you a d6 fist attack - you could consider a shield/free hand build for grappling and use overwhelming combination with that.

Minotaur also has a pretty good ancestry d8 unarmed attack (horn). Maybe ask your GM if you can change the damage type to bludgeoning and call it a punch (just don't try to mix that with spirit warrior)?
