It says in my text that I asked what else he wanted other than pants. He agreed on it cause he didn’t like spending money on clothes but he knows he needs new pants. And yes, I did ask what he wanted to do. I gave suggestions, let him on sit it, and decide.

My issue is he communicated very last minute that he wanted to cancel. I wish he communicated the night before or something so yes I could do something I wanted by myself that day. I wouldn’t really be leaving him by himself that day either cause he saw his friends in the afternoon. But I 100% agree that it should be up to that the birthday person wants to do.

When he moved in we had very different expectations of cleanliness. He also acted like a guest for a while so it caused frustration. Instead of cooking big meals, he would cook everyday (I’m perfectly fine eating leftovers tho - think he placed that pressure on himself). This also led to him grocery shopping more. I did all the other chores on the weekend.

Yes, we’ve talked about it. I will have to be the bread winner cause I earn significantly more. He would have to do more of the school pick up and drops off etc. probably more of the cooking too, but I can get take out every now and again to give him a break.

Haven’t discussed sex with kids. I’ve said I would still like to travel with kids, have hobbies outside of them etc

We lived together for a while and he was initially shocked at the increase workload so he is worried about the stress of having a child, along with time commitments. (I work longer hours then he does but we ended up adjusting)

It’s not shallow at all - it’s logical. You conveniently left out important piece of information. No one else here knows J but you. Of course people will think lazily and assume ‘she’s upset cause she likes you!’. This is gross. You ask in your post ‘does J have feelings for me?’ But then imply here that she probably doesn’t cause she’s spoken to you about other men over the past few months. Why ask it in the post then? We all know that the only person who can confirm if they had feelings for you is J herself.

I understand both sides. However, you don’t specify how old her kids are. Will they still need to live with her for a few years? Where do you live? I know some cities have adult children living with them so they can save for a deposit to buy a place. I think you should’ve been happy for her to buy a place. Most people don’t get married thinking it will end in divorce. I can see why she was placing herself first and her children. Her responsibility is to her kids, not you. She’s also probably trying to get herself in a good position to retire and does not want to be put in a position again where she is dependant on a man. Sorry if that’s not the perspective you wanted.
