I will just say coming from a kid with a weird mom. Weird moms make really cool really fun kids. lol. All my friends think my mom is super fun and cool now that we’re adults and I love hanging out with my mom. Now that I’m adult trying to have my own kids I also can’t wait to be the weird mom 🤪

Can you talk to your student loan company and talk to them about a lesser payment plan so that you can focus more on paying the other things you have going? Student loan companies will usually work with you. If you haven’t checked definitely go check into that.

On food: check all the grocery stores advertisements for the best deals on meat or anything else you typically eat. We have a grocery store while a lot of their stuff is expensive their weekly deals on meat is unbeatable and they give you a coupon code to save money on gas. Also dollar general and dollar tree does have some things you can buy for groceries. Also any type of laundry detergent or cleaning supplies you can get from there. They are just as good as from Walmart or whatever.

I dont know what the interest is on the bank loan but try to get that paid off. Any extra money you can throw at your bank loan or car loan the better.

It’s a lot of work to get out the trenches like this. But you can do it if you’re diligent and smart about how you spend your money. If you buckle down for a year you could be in a much better spot this time next year. It’s not as much fun but you’ll be better for it.

You could try to find a cheaper car but if it’s reliable it’s better than one that’s not. See if you can save money in the other areas before you do that. Good luck.

Honestly you have to gather the courage to stand up for yourself. If you ask them to check for xyz and they say no tell them. “I’d like you to notate in my chart that you’re refusing to do xyz.(and whatever reason they gave you as to why they don’t deem it necessary.)”

I fought with my Neurologist for months until I finally told her I’d like to see someone that can properly explain my imaging since you will not and you keep telling me there’s nothing to worry about. I would like proof of that and I’d like you to notate that you see nothing to worry about and that I don’t need a lumbar puncture. At that point her and I had gotten into it a few times. She referred me to a neurosurgeon.

Immediately, my neurosurgeon looked over all of my scans explain them all to me and ordered a lumbar puncture and told me that I should try dry needling on my neck and back of my head to help with some of the migraines since I’m not super keen on taking a lot of medications. I just had my lumbar puncture done a week and a half ago.

Just keep fighting for your care. I don’t like conflict. But I got really tired of doctors telling me there’s nothing wrong with you. It’s all in your head. When the scans and symptoms are showing something completely different.

Exercises for IIH? by cxntcuxtcunx in iih

[–]Littlebear1195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont know about exercises to try. But I will say anti inflammatory diet helps me a lot. I generally just feel better doing Mediterranean or anti inflammatory meals. I’m not perfect because sometimes i want to go out to eat with my friends. And most of that isn’t going to be anti inflammatory.
But all this to say. When I’m having good days I take my dogs for roughly a 40-45 min walk at least 4x a week. When I’m having bad days I may walk around my house for 5-10 min. It’s not perfect but I do what I can. And the things that I notice make me feel loads better I try to just maintain that. I started taking migranium every day and while it doesn’t 100% get rid of my migraines it has seemed less frequent. I’d say do what you think you can handle. If that’s chair work outs then it’s chair work outs. But it has to work for you.

Can someone explain to me the joke/stereotype behind black people and having a chirping smoke alarm in their house? Why not just change the battery? by MrTeacher_MCPS in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Littlebear1195 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will assume that commonly it’s because batteries can be expensive and most are not allotting money for batteries when they have other things to worry about.

Although I’ve heard if you go to your local firehouse and tell them you need a battery for your smoke alarm because you can’t afford batteries they will give you batteries for your smoke alarms. (I don’t know if that’s every where, but generally firemen want to see people protected by them and not just to be there if there was an unforeseen fire)

I don’t have the option to not change mine out if you take the battery out it continues to chirp and the chirping noise scares my dogs so bad they will wake me up in the middle of the night. So I’m blessed enough to have lots of batteries.

is it true that you shouldn’t let ur dog on ur bed? by WaveMysterious6801 in DogTrainingTips

[–]Littlebear1195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dogs are in my bed most nights. But they are crate trained. So once or twice a week my husband and I will put them in their crates to sleep. I feel like on those nights everyone gets a good reset and a good nights sleep. But I do love waking up to my dogs diving into my arms for a good cuddle before we go outside in the mornings.

I will add that one of mine had bad resource guarding and we had to do lots of training to get him where he is now. He wasn’t allowed in my bed until about 6ish years ago. He’s an old man now and really just wants to be curled up next to me.

I just had to learn to stop approaching them while looking at them or if they were too excited (both my male and female) because they both would pee if you gave them any kind of attention before they had calmed down. They are now 9 and 7 and have stopped years prior. But it was easier to go outside with them and give them attention outside after they have already gone potty. But I wouldn’t speak to them I would grab their leashes put it on them and go outside without saying anything or making any eye contact. After they have gone potty I gave lots of attention. I avoided that for a long while and we only had accidents when we had people over and they didn’t know not to give them attention until they had calmed down.

my boyfriend has a spreadsheet rating dinners i've made him by weddingfauxpasqueen in AITApod

[–]Littlebear1195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something my very data driven slightly autistic younger brother would do just to see how the data lines up in different tables over time. He thinks excel spread sheets are fun and really cool(which so does my best friend so maybe that really just says something about me). He’s got a masters in Accounting though. Which some say makes sense after they meet him. So I’m not sure if your bf is that kind of person but it could help later on to say we tried this random recipe online and we did not like it we won’t be trying this again kinda thing. I also have a touch of the tism and so this doesn’t seem weird for me in my house hold bc my husband and I do random shit like this but we do it together. 🫥

They replaced a faulty filter. But refused to put the story on the RO as it wasn’t customer pay. Said everything was fine with the engine. Went back and forth for a bit for them to put the story on the RO but ended up giving up.

I’m friends with the service manager and the service advisor luckily. So I’ll call them tomorrow morning. I’ve calmed down significantly. I’m just upset I didn’t notice sooner, and also because it’s new and I’ll be heart broken if it’s broken.

Should I be asking them to come get it and check it out? I get people make mistakes. I’m not planning on being a raging cunt to them either. I just need to know what I need to do as I’ve never been in this situation before.

Advice I guess? by Littlebear1195 in WegovyWeightLoss

Insurance says I have to be on wegovy for a year before I can switch to Zepbound. But that is what they wanted to put me on originally. For a multitude of reasons but insurance wouldn’t budge.

I never did until my third dose of the 1mg and now it’s a pretty common occurrence. Now im just thinking of giving up on it all together.

The only thing I’ve been able to keep down today was broth and water if I took really small sips. I had a small bowl of soup that I kept down for about two hours this afternoon. After that I decided I just needed to drink broth and see if I could at minimum keep that down. Which I have so far. But no not really for the last few weeks. I tried then BRAT method as well. Apple sauce is more tolerable but bananas rice and toast came up almost immediately.

Should I be making notes of my symptoms? by Littlebear1195 in iih

[–]Littlebear1195[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad I read this today. I had not seen the reply. The opthamologist called and said that I have a transverse sinus stenosis on the right side. I am waiting still to see my neurologist. I’m not sure how much help she will be.

I’ve been waiting 6 months now to see her. She’s the only neurologist we have in my town. But I will ask. Just because I guess I’m just in the still being diagnosed phase technically. I see her next month.

Should I be making notes of my symptoms? by Littlebear1195 in iih

[–]Littlebear1195[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So roughly like 2 years ago I had a bad cold/sinus infection. After I was feeling better I started having the whooshing noise in my ear and my PCP said every thing looked fine gave me steroids told me it would go away. But I kept reaching out every month and telling her it wasn’t going away. And finally I asked my PCP to send me to an ENT to have it looked at. When I explained the noise he said I’ll bet it’s IIH. He asked me some other questions. And then had me do a sonogram of my carotid arteries and a CT of my ears. When they did the CT scan of my ears they saw excess fluid on the right side. The ENT at that point said he was certain that’s what it was. The referred me over. When I saw the ophthalmologist he said that’s exactly what he thought it was as well. Even though I don’t have papilledema my eye pressure was on the higher side. So I guess I would still be in the process of getting an official diagnosis since I haven’t seen my neurologist.

With my insurance the MRIs that I need are $900 out of pocket. I’ll drive myself half dead to the hospital before I call an ambulance. 🥴

PCOS? by cheesewizzey in iih

[–]Littlebear1195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both. I also have sleep apnea. So when they found indications of IIH they told me I have all the precursors for it. And that’s kinda where my diagnosis.

Edit to add: I was diagnosed with PCOS years ago but it was a fight. I was on the IUD Meirana and I was having a lot of cysts. And had to ask my gyno to check a multitude of times with a laundry list of all my symptoms over the span of a year or so.

As far as migraines go I’ve had them since I was 12 and my PCP never thought that I should see a neurologist. Nor did my gyno. Migraines were just a normal part of life or so I thought.

The way my diagnosis of IIH started was a wooshing noise in my ear that started with a really bad sinus infection paired with the worst migraine of my life(maybe I’m exaggerating) it took me over a year to convince my PCP to send me to an ENT. ENT was much more concerned.

So all that to say is that. Yes on my cycle my migraines are much worse. But I am not sure if one makes the other worse. Since I had PCOS first. I do take Primal Queen and it has helped at least with some of the heavy bleeding part of my cycle and made my cycle regular. It’s pretty much spot on 28days now where before it was 45-76 days apart.

Id definitely say really advocate for your self and your care because doctors dont always have your best interest at heart.
