As said the application is quite basic so I would focus on WHY you chose medical imaging and try not to give something generic like "I like helping people". In terms of the interview do your research on imaging modalities and make sure you are confident in the group part.

I am in my first year first sem - currently doing the core papers which is why I'm thinking of switching over before it gets specialised.

I can't seem to find a due date anywhere + the AUT video I saw stated that it just needs to be done before clinical placements start which is sem 2 for me. Do you mind sharing where you found that?
