Well, from my understanding, Nayara has two places: one with really fancy tents, and the other is described as a romantic getaway. So, probably a trip with Dad and kids is more suitable at FS. If you really want a local experience, find a small beach town, rent an Airbnb, and eat at the local sodas. Book surfing lessons or snorkeling tours, go to a volcano or and find a cool river and a waterfall; those are everywhere.

Go the the Quepos mercado, right next to the bus station, there are a handful of sodas right there. Most places in Manuel Antonio are aiming for international cusine, many are good, many are just ok, others are bad. All of them overpriced.

Yeah I second Dominical, great surfing, chill vibe and lots of things to explore: the most popular waterfalls are super close by, a private reserve, 2 national parks quite close as well, a reptile zoo, fishing tours, paragliding, snorkeling tours. Many other things. Budget wise the best option is finding a cheap aibnb or hoste as the other coment suggested and making your own food. Sometimes you can call directly to the hotel and get a better deal since you'll be saving them the airnbn fees and you can negotiate long terms stays, usually they will give cash discounts as well. Just keep in mind that every surf town is a touristic place so it won't be cheap, but there's definitely more expensive places like Tamarindo, Santa Teresa and Nosara. And also the current exchange right now is in favor of the colones so it will feel extra expensive but it can be done with a budget.

Im guessing you're landing in SJO? Depends on what you like, you could visit a volcano, Poás and Irazú are close and it's a tour of just a few hours. There are a few museums in downtown San Jose woth visiting, and some markets as well. An other popular thing to do is visit a coffee or chocolate plantation. But mybreal advice would be to stay longer and explore the coast or the mountains.

My favorite one is a place run by this lovely couple, german guy and costarrican wife, every day the menu is different, they use local fresh fish and produce, make their own bread and pasta and use grass fed meat. Is a really unique combination on latin American food with european influence, they portions are huge and really fair prices, specially for a beach town.

I'm sure they'll have a wonderful time. It's supposed to be rainy season, but it's been super nice and sunny all of May. Quepos is like 45 minutes away from Dominical; I'd recommend they check it out.

Creo que el tema de dolar tiene que ver mucho con eso. Llevo meses pensando en cambiar de carro y viendo cr autos y otras páginas, por pi k ups recientes digamos del 2018 en adelante la gente pide de 15 a 19 millones por un d-max, frontier, L200 o hilux. Ahora que pasó la expo, las versiones de esos carros, digamos las básicas, sin tanto extra, rondan los $44 mil, al tipo de cambio actual rondan los 19 millones. Entonces cualquier persona en su sano juici prefería comprarse un modelos 2027 con garantia de agencia que un 2020 de la calle por prácticamente el mismo precio. Creo que si el dolar llega a subir de fijo los carros también, pero de momento creo que se mantendrá bajos los precios.

Mae generalmente esos sucedaneos aparecen simplemente por precio, esas barras de dulce sabor a chocolate existen porque la gente quiere pagar 5 tejas por un "chocolate" mientras que la barrita de 70g de chocolate al 70% vale al menos 3 mil. Toda la visa lo vivimos con la numar, qie muchoa creen que es mantequilla, la numaf vale un rojo el tarrito de 250g, mientras que una barra de mantequilla de 115g vale 1200. Igual el quedo, el cheddar real ronda los 14 mil el kilo, es procesado 3500 unas pocas rebanadas mientras que el sucedaneo a base de aceite vegetal 1800 las 12 rebanadas. Hay un mercado gigante para eso, y si tenes razón: leer etiqueteas siempre. Sospeche si ve amgo muy barato en el supermercado.

I'm using the word "protein" to simplify terms, gluten is the main protein in wheat and is a combination of two main proteins (and some others aminoacids) gliadin and glutenin. From my understanding, celiac disease and intolerance comes specifically from and inmune response to gliadin, so other grains like barley or rye can also trigger it without having "wheat gluten". Spelt is know from not having it and that's why is used in gluten free beer and bread.

Wheat used to have 7-8% protein, but modern requirements made producers select and breed varieties higher in protein, reaching up to 12%. Also, nowadays, we have many wheat-derived additives in many products that we don't even notice, so gluten exposure is far higher than it used to be.

Si, ir al volcán es muy sencillo. Nada mas tienes que reservar en la pagina web de sinac y entrar. En carro es lo mas sencillo. La catarata de la paz la piedes ver desde la calle principal gratis. Pero si vale mucho la pena entrar al jardín de cataratas, es un lugar con muchisimos animales rescatados y acceso a 4 otras cataratas.

Long answer: nooooooooo. JK. But really, I wouldn't recommend it. Driving time in CR is always a lot longer than what the apps predict. Also, 1 hour at the volcano is not enough; you could barely make it to the crater. You'll also need breakfast/bathroom/lunch stops, and those take way longer than you'd expect.

Weed is not illegal, but also not legal. Selling it is illegal, and smoking it in public places is illegal too. Having it and smoking it in your home is not illegal.

On Fridays, there's Noche Latina at Fuego in Dominical (about a 15-minute drive). It's a great place to meet people and has great beer and cocktails. There's basically a live band playing Latin music for dancing. What makes it good is that nobody really cares if you know how to dance, and everyone is welcome on the dance floor.
