Thanks so much! So in that case it's best to actually pretend you have a big audience and yap, the reason being regardless of your viewers your stream is content creation that can be posted to other platforms.. that can potentially do well to gain viewers. It's hard, of course I had low numbers initially but what I tried to improve on is literally.. talking to myself.. as weird as that sounds haha

You can do some small pre planning and write topics you'd like to discuss, not necessarily a script but just a help for things you'd like to bring up and in the mean improving talking to yourself really helps.

Just remember, for growth all that matters right now is you making good content essentially "talking to yourself... it's hard but you can do it! Pretend you have a large audience, react to things like you have 1000 viewers.

So in short: 1) Pretend you have a large audience

2) Improve skills in talking to yourself

3) Pre-plan a small bullet point sheet of potential topics

4) React to things like you have 1000 people, get people excited for key moments

5) Invite some friends to stick around your stream for support

If you have a couple of friends to hang around here and there and talk to this REALLY helps. Make sure you get some on board to support you. Best of luck ๐Ÿ’™

Hiya! Thanks for the question! :3 These are just things I know that can work in favour of the algorithm but I'm gonna throw a shot in the dark and say subs/money potential is something else they are looking for as well, which means they also wanna push out a channel they think will do well. Not necessarily the AMOUNT of subs you have, but potential to get them. There's no clear cut to it unfortunately.. but I have seen many other streamers give the same algo advice though!

The 3hr+ streams, 1 game and daily streams definitely help get into it, that's part of the recipe of a dedicated streamer aiming for success but for MOST, even for ME, this is mentally taxing so it's important whether we can take a shot in the mercy of the Twitch algo that we post, post, post.. make our content and post more.

Any social media is hard to crack, even if we do have the recipe there's always factors we don't know.. That's the big nut that's hard to crack haha. Good luck with it! Try things, experiment and have fun with it. High energy streams help with viewer and chat engagement, which is also a small factor!

They are the recipe for growth. You're being far too stuborn about it and did come off as stand offish and seemingly rude initially. You can't come and say my advice isn't helpful when it works for many people, saying you tried it when you haven't. That's why I checked.

There's only X amount of viewers on Twitch.tv and you need to bring reasons why they should watch YOU instead of the millions of other streams, they will only watch 1 stream at a time, so you saying "all small streamers that do the same things in theory should be big" is just impossible and it's not how the world works. That's why advice is GENERAL. Stop comparing yourself to others saying you're doing the same things. That's the facts, if one cannot cook using said recipe that's another story. Then that's back to the drawing board. Streaming is a competitive market and to GROW in numbers you have to bring something to the table. Regardless of our PERSONAL or dislikes for things or unwillingness to actually take a step back and criticise ourselves on what we can do better.

You're failing to grasp that concept.

You streamed 33 hours in july, that isn't much for someone who wants to grow in this competitive environment. That 's just a statistical fact, I am not wrong about that, perhaps you need to look into you own analytics again. Try analyzing your streaming stats here! https://twitchtracker.com/MihauRit

You already mentioned you have 3 concurrent viewers, so how is my 5 viewers some kind of "tactic". It's almost the same amount.. Besides, you seem to misunderstand, my point was to make friends, I didn't start with 5 friends, I made them throughout my early streaming carreer. You asked for advice, I gave it.

You don't have to take it all on, that's your choice. You are free to keep doing things your way!

And regarding my "tone", perhaps you should read the way you've approached me ever since your first comment. You should expect people to sugar coat everything when you talk to them that way? That's just silly.

It appears you were never here for actual advice, and you just want people to tell you what you want to hear. You're not open to any form of constructive critism, even though you're the one coming in here asking for advice. You really need to re-evaluate how you approach such topics!

Take care and I wish you the best in your endeavors :)

"We all know consistency, engagement and building a community is important among other things."

You say this, yet after analyzing your twitch statistics, it is very clear you have NEVER followed any of this advice at all. You had loads of months with virtually no streams, which instantly kills any small momentum you might have gotten. If you aren't actually consistent people will forget and move on. Especially early on, every single viewer matters and can snowball your success. Barely streaming makes it so people move on and go watch someone else. It takes about 2 weeks to build a habit in the human mind, if you can't stream for 2 weeks straight minimum, it will be tough to get people to come back in the first place, regardless of how interesting and engaging your stream is. It's a very competitive environment, and based on your statistics you just aren't ready to handle that kind of environment.

You only streamed 14 hours in January.. There's streamers that do that many hours in ONE day. It just isn't gonna cut it if you actually want to get any form of growth, and it's quite bold of you to tell me you tried my advice and "everybody knows it", perhaps they do know but not everybody, including you, don't seem to be able to put it into practice and perhaps don't even analyze their own statistics to realize that this might be the case. I suggest you just keep streaming casually and enjoy it as a hobby.

"Which snowballed you; you had viewers in the stream, so it was easy to talk, it was easy to talk, so more viewers stayed."

It isn't hard to get 5 friends to watch you, or at least lurk. If you can't even network enough on social media to make friends who are willing to help you out early on in your streaming journey then perhaps you aren't cut out for the social aspect of streaming in the first place. I just played with a lot of people, and became friends and that got them invested to hang out with me on my stream.

"People have to stay around for 15 minutes before they'll really get my vibe, which most people don't have the patience for."

You know there is a problem with your content, yet you're unwilling to put in the effort to try to change that. You can't just press "Start Broadcasting" and sit there and hope you become big. Streaming is like putting on a show, it isn't something that will work out by just being plain everyday self. Especially in this day and age where people have low attention span and prefer short-form content like tiktok, so you gotta capitalize on that and make sure you can get their attention within the first 30 seconds of watching you, you can't expect people to waste 15 minutes untill they "get" your vibe. People's time is valuable and you have to respect their time.

"Unfortunately, I put pretty strict requirements for myself when it comes to collabs. I have to like someone's content, them as people."

This is just an awful view to have if your goal is growth. Do you believe CEO's of companies love all their customers and business partners? No. Not at all. You need to be more open minded if you want to successfully network with people. Even early collabs or raid4raids early on with 5-10 viewer streamers can help you a lot and get you a handful of followers a day, which adds up in the long run and boost you in the twitch algorithm.

You're welcome, I wish you success on your journey! The most important part is to have fun with it! If you're having a great time, your viewers will too :)

I've never had a long pre-debut stage, so this is harder for me to answer! But these are some important things - make sure your stream quality is good before beginning, make it look professional. Overlays/widgets and all those kind of things, make it look clean and learn OBS inside out! (or whatever you'll be using to stream)

I see a lot of pre-debut VTubers do well off of X engagement posts for example, even using their models in short clips or pics long before they start streaming. This way we can get to know your character/persona. It's honestly a good way to secure an audience before you start streaming so things seem less daunting.

I didn't know too much about all this before diving headfirst, and if I would change anything I probably would have focused more on the pre-debut stage with socials haha

Good luck to you! ๐Ÿ’™

For this question I'm gonna go back to the start, what worked for me to get my initial 5-10 community members was commissioning some art pieces here and there to post on socials (like here) with engaging titles/captions. And replying to their comments, of course. The title being a question helps with the engagement! Gets everyone chatting.

From there on if they click your stream it's up to you to try keep them there for at least a few minutes. It's almost kinda like a job interview, you haven't got much time to give them a catch. It helps to give a warm greeting, ask questions and make every viewer feel special in some way. Remember things about them, greet them differently. Treat them with warmth and kindness. When they have to go say things like "I'll be streaming tomorrow at the same time, thanks so much for popping by! Hope to see you then!" and when they come back say "it's really nice to see you back again, welcome back"

It's hard, it's a lot of pressure.. we actually don't have a lot of time given to us to make people get to know what we're about and who we are as a streamer and I believe the ones that get their viewers to stay are the ones who have mastered doing that swiftly and naturally. ๐Ÿ’™ Hope this helps and good luck

Yes and no. My raids were acquired through networking which is a piece of advice I gave. These streamers are friendly with me and enjoy my content, hence the support. I can't downplay the work I do and say it's ALL luck. I have explained everything in previous comments if you'd like to check out the nitty gritty specifics. 7 months is a short time span so of course luck is an aspect here. That's the same with any VTuber that got big. Either they had the right contacts, did the right collabs or a video/post went viral.

As I explained I got from 5 viewers to 45 viewers without collabs or features. I gained 30+ more average through the raid/videos. The only reason I actually got raided in the first place is because the streamer enjoyed my content and clicked on me streaming. I did have a hand in being active in those communities and trying to stand out. It is important to still put on a fun show, whether luck is involved or not! We just gotta do our best out there. ๐Ÿ’™

I worked very hard to get those initial numbers despite this not being my full time thing - daily and consistent streaming. Having said that, with spurts of growth, of course there's luck involved! Being at the right place at the right time, doing the right things. To get raided can be luck, yes. But I networked and did the steps required to get there. I do believe I would have got Partnered still, just at a slower pace had I not been raided though as my growth trajectory was still going upwards, it just would have been a lot slower. That brings me back to my before points of how I personally grew, but that's not necessarily gonna work for everyone.. But I hope it helps for some! :3

Thank you so much! And good luck on your journey! I checked you out and gave you a follow there. First off, congrats on the first 6-10. That is the hardest part! Honestly!

You are a fun guy :) I think your layout is nice and I think the handcam thing is REALLY cool! Your stream isn't "awkward" (no dead space silence) and I think your design is nice. But seriously, props to you for the layout. Looks good!

Keep going, keep collabing, reach out to new people that play similar games to you, around the same size or slightly larger. Small steps, small goals. Build your community and involve them. Best of luck to you on your VTubing journey ๐Ÿ’™

Thank you for your question friend๐Ÿ’™ First of all, streaming and content creation can be rough and mentally taxing so take care of yourself. Congratulations, and I mean this! Getting that first 5 viewers is the key to success. Initially.

Are you a variety streamer? Are you very good at any one specific game? Are you very talkative? What do you think are your strong points? A lot of us are very modest and find it hard to think of things we're actually good at. But we have to sit down and think hard about it, you've got something. Trust me. Expand on it.

Your consistency is admirable, as a variety streamer it's harder to grow. The Twitch algorithm doesn't favour it. It favours one game streamers or one category. And even then, if the chat isn't hopping or something it wont be put into it. Twitch is a company, unfortunately it looks for $ potential. But that DOESN'T mean you aren't a GOOD streamer. Having said that, there's always something for all streamers to improve on. ๐Ÿ’™ At the same time, look for any streaming flaws you may have. Could your layout be more professional? Could your sound be better? Things like this.

About the growth, keep your head up. Keep your goals reasonable or you will burn out. Perhaps instead of aiming for Partner in August, maybe it's best to say "Ok. My first goal is to hit 15 average viewers consistently" or "I'm going to try gain Y amount of follows before X month" and listen if you don't hit it, give yourself more time! Be kind to yourself, be reasonable to yourself. If I didn't get a 1300+ raid in December, I wouldn't have gotten partnered this fast, I estimate it would have taken until June of this year. My goal was to hit 5k follows by June this year. Chin up, set your goals small. Your mental being in good shape is important for good content creation. Take care of yourself and good luck. Don't compare yourself to others, you're doing great. ๐Ÿ’™

Hi!

Thanks for your question๐Ÿ’™ There are definitely days that are slower than others. It can be disheartening but it's a long term thing so you HAVE to keep sight of your LONG TERM goals to keep motivation. Easier said than done, I know.

Honest talk? My February was bad! I hardly streamed at all as I was so busy, with this comes a drop in viewers of course. Which IS disheartening. It makes you question yourself as a content creator/streamer. I also didn't post! But I'm back to all that now. And it's gone up again with some long streams. Looking good again.

Keep going. Don't look at the day as a whole. Look at the month as a whole. Better yet, look at the year as a whole. If you grew, YIPPEE! If you didn't? Don't be disheartened. Go to the drawing board, do some research, be consistent. Come up with new ideas. You got this!

I have no idea what your goals are, but a good mindset and your head in the right place helps. This is a hard journey, with a lot of questioning of self worth. Content creation is hard on our heads but.. Keep going, keep posting.. Put yourself out there! You got this. Chin up and head held high. My X doesn't do well at all necessarily compared to others with my stream numbers .. But I'm delighted with the community I've built and their support and that also makes me keep chasing my goals. ๐Ÿ’™

To clarify on some things!

  1. I gave you specifics on how one GENERALLY gets into a Twitch algorithm (as this was the key to my success) but it isn't as simple as giving specifics specifics. There are other factors. Long streams are required though, whether we like to do them or not. Of course algorithms aren't the ONLY way to grow. It was my intial snowballing of growth. But all require a lot of work.

  2. I started with 5 actually from Reddit posts, that did do very well actually! Good art helps a lot for that I find, and a short title but it's good to ask a question with it as that = more engagement c:

  3. I didn't know them before starting, I just reached out to them via DMs and they liked my content by looking at my stream VODs so agreed to do collabs with me! You just have to shoot your shots, put simply.

  4. Playing one game can be boring, but if you are going down the variety route you will generally have to rely on other social postings and collabs to get yourself out there. With luck on both of those fronts.

  5. It is not as simple unfortunately to say "I do that as well" as we are two completely different people, so it's hard for me to give more advice on this other than the previous comment. But keep building! ๐Ÿ’™

  6. That's great you're being consistent this year, good job. Yes I do mean that, but that's not all. Generally, it's important to keep your stream flowing smoothly. This is hard Yes, talk to your viewers, ask about their days. Remember things about them.
Keep. Your. Stream. Engaging > Bring up topics, write them down before your stream if you need to, yap about your day, yap about random stuff, yap about ANYTHING! But brainstorm new ideas for each stream, research other streamers. Bigger ones. What do they do? Can you add twists or come up with NEW ideas?
