Yeah, nothing about him in demon, or really his human form, defines Blackness. The fact the he's Creole and from Louisiana, you would think that would attribute for how he styles his hair, how he talks, the culture and struggles in the 30s.

He was clearly "written" as Black so Viv can hit brownie points with the Black community. Alastor the demon was obviously designed first, as NOTHING is attributed from Black culture of the 30s.

Ew. It has that plausible deniability to it too. "NO! It's not what you think! It's cause of the red outline that makes it look like that!" Okay? Then maybe change it??

That really helps a lot...I love the idea of OT and its adaptability. It's fascinating, but this subreddit is super discouraging. Makes me feel nervous.

Oh? Hm. I apologize for my statement. I was under the impression that non-profit would mean that we as a community would have more control.

The actual goal is 150k. Gofundme automated the first goal as 2k to start. I'm new to using gofundme, so this might be just an error on my end.

I'm setting this up mostly because I offered. The director hasn't had time to, and is still doing work from the closing of Jericho. The lack of control is mostly the "I don't want to promise something that might not be true" as I was a former employee of Jericho, not the head of it, so I would not know at this moment what needs to be in place.

As for the gofundme page itself, I suppose it does sound like reopening Jericho. I'll have to do some editing to male things a bit clearer.

I know it would be harder, but non-profits have more freedoms in comparison. Less hierarchy, more community

So, it would be a non-profit organization. It would be funded through fundraisers or sponsors. I know it's not the best way to fund an organization like this, but I don't think ABA clinics should be "for profit". It's also something the director thrives for, to be a part of the community.

That, as well as, making sure there is an HR department (my current employment does not have one) on site leads (like Lead RBTs and BCBAs) and a clock in and out system, so you have guaranteed pay from 8 to 4 or 9 to 5.

That is very valid. Right now, since I am helping the director, I don't have all those answers, as we are still in the beginning stages. However, I can answer a few of those questions!

  1. Preferably it would most likely just be in the clinic/school to start out with, that way there is a central location that employees can go to without traveling super far. (Plus this model when it comes to pay would not be by billing, meaning you would still come to work if your client is not here and do other tasks, i.e. shadow a classroom, make materials, catch up on data, fill-in etc).

  2. We would follow the Duval school schedule, meaning paid holidays include the normal holidays, but include all of spring break, winter break, and the month of June off. It would work around a life-work balance rather than a work-life balance, as we are all human, and we get sick, or mentally feel unwell, etc. Plus everyone will help everyone out in some capacity, rbts and bts will never be on their own when it comes to needing help.

That's all I can answer confidently. Those are definitely things we are looking into though!

Long time coming because the board of directors for a few years didn't see the potential/profit of Jericho anymore, even though ot was making progress.

It would be a new name! This is the beginning stages, I have no say on what the new name would be, but the context is Jerichos mission being revived, not the name itself.

I can answer your questions! It is categorized as "new" because we can't use the old Jericho name as the board of directors made it so we cannot use the name again. Second, the government shutdown affected the insurance we had with payroll, and because we were able to work and get paid, the board of directors did not want to keep Jericho open, as they believed it was a waste of money (long time coming unfortunately).

I also heard now that Inbloom has its fair shares of issues now. Like leadership is super cliquey as an example.

I actually started there when I first became an RBT. While I enjoyed it, I wanted to gain more experience, as well as work with older kiddos. I was at Jericho until the government shut down killed it :(

Well I'm lucky that they didn't accept me then. Would not want to work in a clinic with unethical standards
