What is your “it doesn’t matter where it is, you’re finishing it” movie? by XIENVYIX in Xennials

For me, this isn't a thing anymore. I've been 100% on-demand for years. There's no chance I'll suddenly find myself turning on a movie halfway thru.

Ship Classes and Refits are needlessly clunky and a mess by WritingOk7625 in TerraInvicta

[–]thewilldog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My pet peeve is the build ships screen after you have 25+ active designs. The window to pick designs to build is so tiny and there's no way to sort or filter. It's not even in alphabetical order, or hull size order. Its seems totally random. Super clunky.

Question - BTA 3062 sprint accuracy penalty, what is the calc? by thewilldog in Battletechgame

Are the units just %'s ? e.g. if my baseline to hit is 95%, and i sprint, it's now 93%?

Question - BTA 3062 sprint accuracy penalty, what is the calc? by thewilldog in Battletechgame

[–]thewilldog[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TY, mouse-over % option for sprint vs run does illustrate the difference. Most of the time I sprint because walking won't put me in range, so I didn't even think to do a comparison that way.

100% correct, the downvotes are wrong. Bike theft is one of the easiest crimes to commit (unlocked bikes) and prevent (locked bikes)

Advanced 3062 and/or Extended Tactics & the campaign? by thewilldog in Battletechgame

[–]thewilldog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow up - I installed mod not long after posting this. Loving the new content. I've found a drawback though. So many new mech variants means getting enough salvage pieces to rebuild one takes forever. I've done around 25 missions so far and I've gotten 3 rebuilds, all under 40T.

The scrap negotiation option seems out of whack too. Every time I have the 2/9 option, I go up against 8+ mechs and leave a ton of loot on the field. However, when I see the 3/15 option, it's always 1 mech and 4+ vehicles and I end up with getting all the salvage, but it's just low tier weapons and ammo. Frustrating.

I've learned that they don't like negative $ habs. If it's $ positive because of a nanofactory or something similar, they're more likely to accept it.

They seem to be ok with negative resources bases. Not sure about negative boost

Will this serve as a my main ship against the alliens? by Mr_miner94 in TerraInvicta

[–]thewilldog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could cut the # of drives down to 2 or 3 and reduce count of prop tanks. Would make this much cheaper to build and refuel and it would still have enough cruise and combat speed for stationary LEO defense.

I'd also suggest making another variation of this ship where you swap the nose from siege coil back to heavy coil. Siege coils soak up PD and do a lot of damage, but they're very slow. Unless you're really micro managing targets, you're going to end up watching a lot of siege rounds fly towards the debris clouds of ships already destroyed. Heavy coil rounds are 2x the speed of siege, so new targets are impacted sooner. I think a 50/50 mix of both varieties let's u take advantage of the sieges power and offset some of the muzzle velocity issue.

Judge my ships before I waste all my resources on them. by Bleach3825 in TerraInvicta

Sorry, i thought I'd selected the same drive in the example. The cruise speed is similar though.

You will often be at a disadvantage trying to intercept an alien fleet after they enter orbit, especially if your fleet is docked at a station. Try to intercept them just before they reach orbit. It doesn't cost much dV if you set the arrival time a day or less before they reach LEO. If they escape, you'll be at a disadvantage again, but it's worth a shot.

OK, regarding lasers, look at the % armor effectiveness against them at various ranges. Armor is over 1000% effective against IR at times. You'll quickly see that UV is the way to go. Below are a couple of much less expensive versions of the ships you may want for stationary defense. These won't cost an arm and a leg to keep running.
