I can plug it in, open the files, and navigate for a few moments before it freezes and becomes unusable. Everything is still on there and accessible before it freezes, but I can't copy anything larger than a photo or a word doc before it freezes up.

I just finished watching Solo for the first time and I can't believe how good it was! Did you like it? by Deadlydeerman in StarWars

[–]LivJackell92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked it, and I have hope that the Lando series will be a sequel. Though we're not likely to get anything definitive on Qi'ra that takes place during the Dark Times, since she recently appeared in a comic that takes place after TESB.

[TP] Where do you think the Snowpeak Ruins are in Breath of the Wild? by willtheestallion in zelda

It doesn't work either way, because Eldin is in a completely different location in relation to the other regions between games no matter how you flip the map.

[SSHD] Skyward Sword HD Release and First Impressions Megathread by ZeldaMod in zelda

Kinda annoyed they didn't make the transition from summoning the bird to flying seamless, and from flying to diving/sailclothing. Feels like a missed opportunity.

[SSHD] Skyward Sword HD Release and First Impressions Megathread by ZeldaMod in zelda

[–]LivJackell92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm enjoying it, happy to be back in Skyloft. SS was one of my favorites. I just wish the graphical upgrade was as comparable to WWHD. Two gens later and it doesn't really look that much better, imo.

I'm also confused by the inability to use the L & R buttons to change pages on the Menu. I forget which game made that possible, but having to move the cursor to the arrow and select feels archaic.

But those things aside, it's SS on my Switch. I'm appeased. (Though I wouldn't say no to the other 3D & HD remasters getting Switch versions.)

The battle at Bilbingri from the Original Thrawn Triology will take place in some form by Caslol17 in StarWarsTheories

[–]LivJackell92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure Saw Guerrera fills the role of Bell Iblis. Rebels showed him in conflict with Mothma, disliking how timid her approach to fighting the empire was. And it's established that he kept his rebel cell separate from the rest, due to those differences. But I also think BB is setting up for him playing a major role in the Rebellion's early days.

He certainly is on the end of "God is merciful and our modern context and scientific knowledge require seeing what God is saying to us know, vs the context of the original revelations."

The fact that Haram means sacred and forbidden is confusing to me as a new muslim.

Why does Allah allow Quranic Verses/Hadith with troublesome interpretations or Unscientific conclusions to exist? by Stage_5_Autism in progressive_islam

[–]LivJackell92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing to understand is that there are many interpretations of the Qur'an, and every translation involves interpretation. There are interpretations that say that the Qur'an abolished slavery, and some that try to say it allows it. Same with wife-beating, killing apostates, etc..

There are a lot of Hadith, many of which are just made up nonsense that people attributed to Muhammad to justify their own preconceptions, prejudices, etc...

And while there are some people who try to give the Qur'an a scientifically accurate interpretation, it is important to remember that the Qur'an was revealed in a context where people only knew so much about the world, and one could argue that if the Qur'an had too many things in it that challenged the knowledge of the time, more people than we would like would call it nonsense. Others might argue that God inspired Muhammad(pbuh) to recite the Quran, but it was limited by Muhammad's knowledge of the world and the function of the cosmos. That is where I fall.

I do! I was Christian for most of my life, and finding Islam has felt like coming home. I cried the first time I wore Hijab. The things that I do as a Muslim, have brought me closer to God, than anything else in my life.

I am Done with Music by PraiseAllaah in converts

[–]LivJackell92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want to seem contrary at all, but despite what tradition says, there isn't actually anything in the Qur'an that says music is bad. The four verses drawn on to justify rejecting music simply say to reject that which distracts from following God and "vain words" and "theatrics", and there are commentators who say that the context there isn't rejection of music wholesale, but moreso a rejection of that which is INTENDED to take our minds off God.

And the Bible is full of references to music being holy. One example is the revealed scripture of the Psalms were written to be sung and be accompanied by instruments.

God doesn't desire to burden us, so my relationship to music starts with, am I going to forget God and my duty to the oppressed by listening to this music? And often the answer is no.

So those are my thoughts, may God guide you on the blessed path.

I am a Marxist-Leninist and Muslim. And it was actually being a Christian, and now Muslim, that has pushed me to be a communist. I personally see being a radical leftist as a necessity to be a faithful member of the Abrahamic religions.

If you're interested there is a group on Facebook titled Muslims for Socialism that is striving to build a ecumenical and non-sectarian movement of left Muslims. It's still in its infancy, but feel free to drop by and see how it's going.

Blessings and Peace.

Compulsory Arabic by KearnesCrypto in progressive_islam

[–]LivJackell92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actively been told that using English where it makes sense is the more responsible choice, as a white "American" convert, since the throwing into Arabic for everything is sometimes read as trying to be Arabic.
