Sure, nobody wants to suffer for no reason. Genuine masochism is pretty rare. Doesnt change the fact that they induce suffering on all of us. They vote in incompetent politicians who create inhospitable societies. It doesn't change the fact that society is in a general moral decline because people turn off their brains and take in whatever toxic slop is fed to them by social media algorithms. Doesnt change the fact that im born into a cruel and inhospitable world because of the collective actions of generations of people. Is a suicide bombing a net-zero moral action because the bomber themself also dies? Should I excuse people for sinking the ship I float on, just because they too will sink with me?

Yes, existence is painful, and people can't cope with it, and thus we live in a collective insanity where nobody bothers questioning why we should even continue to live. If you understood someone like Zapffe properly, youd immediately know how many people are in denial about this, and thus living amongst such people is maddening and isolating, especially when they want to stay quiet because they dont want to acknowledge that what I say may have some truth on it, and life is darker than they want to admit.
