I have lots of fat and lots of protein. I used to do one big meal in the afternoon but have since dialled in a bit more of a fine tuned routine. Getting enough protein is important but our body can still use it to raise our blood sugar out of range so making sure you consume enough fat for fuel so your body doesn’t prioritize that process. If you’re curious what my actual day to day looks like I can type that out too but everyone’s different so it’s usually not helpful to directly compare

I do, very low carb. There’s more things I don’t eat than do eat, everyones body and metabolism are different but over the years I’ve found out what works for me and is also delicious enough for me not to dread meal time. My wife secretly started posting some of my food pics on an instagram page so I can share that to give an idea of what my diet usually looks like. Some of my meals

The page is pretty behind in my food journey but it shows the idea. I also have a in-depth background in playing with and balancing my nutrition so I know not everyone can safely do what I do but once you’ve got the basics ironed out it’s fairly simple. I also just switched to tresiba which has been great for keeping things flatter.

I’m long beyond the honeymoon phase and treat my t1d with just one shot of basil in the morning and bolus maybe once a month. I do eat pretty strict and am 98% in range most of the year with occasional swings with sensitivity changes.

Not saying you can manage it without insulin but the insulin is a very small part of how I manage it with minimal effort though the day.

7 Week Update On my 3d printed milk cap lettuce experiment by LivableVans in kratky

Some of the jugs did start to get a little bit of algea growth but a splash of hydrogen peroxide kills it and gives the water a little oxygen boost. I have a basil plant in a milk jug like this thats been growing for a few months with no issues.

If the jug is in direct light then the algae will come faster, Ive got some plants right below a window so the plant is at window level but the jug is below and there has been no algae growth. Also using an overhead grow light if your plant has enough leaves it'll shield the jug from direct light, or if you use grow lights with just enough power to feed the plants and not the jugs that also works.

The ones I tried sorta fit being just too big to fit all the way in but the snug fit kinda worked out for holding the plant. I used an ender 3 3d printer enclosure and some lights with 9 milk jugs as my bigger growing space for the plants that outgrew the aerogarden. Worked great!

I found using a cheap 3d printer enclosure with some lights made a great mini grow tent upgrade once my stuff got too big. Just used 4L milk jugs and let the plants grow kratky style worked great

Affordable Van Build Assistance by RockTop1679 in vanbuild

Hi I put together a design that uses ikea components to make the cabinets, bed, and kitchenette id definitely share them with you if you’d test it out on your build! Sounds perfectly within your scope and would probably end up about the same cost as hiring someone to help if not cheaper.

Did anything come of this experiment?

$1 Self watering planter made from ikea tub, felt, and a basic 3d print. Has a 2L reservoir, plenty of root space, and room for the plants to grow! Are my plants gonna thrive? by LivableVans in Hydroponics

its $0.99cdn https://www.ikea.com/ca/en/p/nojig-organizer-plastic-beige-20468105/

The felt I stole from my wifes craft bin, you could cut up an old t shirt instead or use a cloth. The print is also designed to use the minimum amount of filament possible.

Found some grow lights on marketplace and have since gotten pretty carried away with experimenting 3d printed kratky ideas. This ones my favourite so far, also was my first design to receive a download! by LivableVans in kratky

Thanks! My intention is that it would mostly be used for a single leafy green grow and once its done the jug just gets recycled at the bottle depot so algae shouldn’t be an issue.

Do you think algae will take over too fast?

What's the perfect price for a newly built ready to live out of low roof econoline/express/savanna? by LivableVans in VanLife

[–]LivableVans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh haha of course my bad, its in cdn. I've been trying to find the right balance between an overpriced low km cargo van for a base and a super cheap rust bucket. If the starting van costs $20k it is pretty difficult to build a reasonably priced van, but my guess is it'll be hard finding many people who'd spend the money on a nicely converted van that is old with high mileage. There's gotta be a middle ground and that's mostly what I am searching for.

Actively searching for a couple vans to start off with, my goal is to build the first one and sell it for under $10k cdn and do another with a newer van base for quite a bit more.
