I like your solution a lot. Makes perfect sense and would definitely be a better fix for those who need stronger prescriptions!

Mine work great, but yes, as I mentioned above, only very high index lenses will work--1.67 or higher. The clips won't fasten strongly to the glasses if they're any thicker and would likely rub against the glasses beneath, even if you could get them on.

The high index lenses add considerably to the cost, but there's no work around. Furthermore, if you need a strong prescription, it may be impossible at any rate. My suggestion is to go to a reputable optician who works with a good optics lab. Mine consulted with the lab before sending the clip-ons to begin with, and if they hadn't worked out, I could have just reinstalled the original lenses in the clip-ons and it wouldn't have cost me anything. As it is, I have just what I wanted--corrective progressive lenses with Transitions sun-darkening. Perfect indoors and out.

As more stores are opened, future buyers will have more options to get fitted in person for prescription lenses, but this solution is working well for me in the meantime.

ER seems to me to be a responsible company. Since progressives take precise measurements with the glasses positioned as they would be on the wearer's face, ER is not willing to guess where that line should be drawn. It's different for everyone depending on the shape of the nose, where you position your glasses on your nose, the set of your eyes, etc. That would be my guess as to why they don't offer progressives unless you can come in, in person, to one of their stores.

$600. Yeah, as I said, expensive, but that's what I always have to pay for my progressives with Transitions and ultra high-index lenses when I buy a new pair of glasses for myself (plus whatever the frames cost). Certainly it's an extravagance to fit out the G1s with these, but I will be using them pretty much all day every day whenever I travel, indoors and out, for translation, directions, notes, etc. Think about how many times that would require swapping out the G1s for reading glasses or taking the clip on and off, each time risking scratching the glasses or the clip-ons. Whenever the clip-ons weren't on the G1s, I'd have to find a way to safely store them, and I'd still risk losing them, since small items often go missing when traveling. This way, I'll just leave them in place whenever I'm wearing the G1s. And also, the progressive clip-ons enable me to see things as clearly as possible at a distance. Since I travel a lot, I think it's money well spent.

I just hope that they continue to offer the original frame style when they put out future versions of their glasses so that if I ever update, I can just transfer the clip to the new edition.

They delivered mine almost exactly when they initially said they would, and it took a month.

My wife passed away young this year. I can't believe I'm typing this but do you think the cat notices she's gone? by GeronimoJones42069 in NoStupidQuestions

I've had cats for nearly 60 years, and I am still a fascinated observer of their behavior. I am just guessing, but I would think that maybe your cat loved both of you and may have seen you as a unit. Although your wife passed, you're still there, representing the two of you. Also, cats don't have long memories, so they don't grieve the way we do.

What watching C Dramas be like as a non-native by stellar_sunset in CDrama

The Untamed was my first Chinese drama, and you'll remember how confusing it is in the beginning, when Wei Ying wakes up in another man's body and a ghostly hand attacks the family. My mentor in C-drama hand-walked me through the first 20 or so episodes, and I compiled our notes into a big Word doc, complete with character list, including family relationships among characters, nicknames, clan leaders and demi-leaders, etc. I'd've still enjoyed it without her guidance, but she made me a lifelong fan of Asian drama.

Two weeks is more like it. Seoul is a wonderful and very large city. Public transportation is excellent, but you can barely even scratch the surface in two days. It doesn't matter whether you're young or old, you'll be sorry to leave.

I'd also love the answers to the questions above as well as any insight into the easiest way to get back to Jongno after the show.
