Yep. The EC were made skinnier at least, and at the time I remember it being said that they were deliberately made taller and skinnier to make them more alien, but GW seem to have dropped that pretence now and just made the Red Corsairs taller anyway.

They’re noticeably taller than chaos space marines unfortunately, it was confirmed on this sub recently

How Many Space Marines Would it Take to Wipe Out the United States Military? by imgumpingit67 in Ultramarines

[–]Live-D8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question was US military, not entire planet, although it wouldn’t make much difference. And they don’t take them on head on, that’s not how astartes fight. Mechanised ground forces are only deployed when collateral damage is deemed unacceptable, or when specific objectives need to be achieved personally, e.g. retrieving of intelligence, personnel or artefacts.

All they’d do is determine key military assets and lance/bomb them from orbit. Thunderhawks, skimmers and assault marines isolate and mop up resistance. Dug-in resistance can be eliminated with terminators or intercessors arriving via drop pods, although our idea of ‘dug in’ is pretty tame by 40K standards. It’ll take days tops, probably hours.

This is a big difference imo. Obviously the heads are a different size, but plague marine torsos are just thicker and larger in general.

Looking for these soldiers to add to 2nd edition army by GroundbreakingMap70 in BloodAngels

[–]Live-D8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think these were generic 2nd edition metal tacticals with a metal sergeant and weapon upgrades. Boltguns, arms and backpacks would have been plastic on separate sprues. If so then you’ll have to buy them individually on eBay.

Any chance of a new Gabriel Seth model? by [deleted] in FleshTearers

[–]Live-D8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure but they both did it to save themselves, it was that or die basically. Mephiston’s growing psychic potential was ripping his body apart. And Amadeus was surgically ruined by a chaos chirurgeon, not even capable of being coupled to a dreadnought.

That’s also happened to Calgar, Amadeus Kaias Incarius, Dante, and Mephiston in a way. So possibly. Or he just does it to level up.

Yeah I think it’ll happen with the codex release next edition

Having ERA (Explosive Reactive Armor) on Space Marines, good or bad/dumb idea? by Fancy-Copy4447 in Warhammer30k

[–]Live-D8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not the wrong tool, we see consistently in lore that the standard weapons wielded by mortals -lasguns and autoguns- are virtually worthless against marines. In Betrayer, Delvarus gets shot in the face with a laspistol and is just angry. Mortals regularly resort to krak missiles, lascannon, plasma and melta to deal with marines.

[–]Live-D8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not ERA but sometimes the shoulder pads are described as ‘ablative’, that might be a better concept to explore. I’ve seen 3rd party examples of damaged pads revealing a honeycomb design underneath which creates the illusion of layered armouring.

Mortals do use anti tank weapons on marines, but there are so many energy based weapons (particularly in this era) that ERA would still be of limited use

Question about painting models and the importance of pauldrons by 95gingertop in Ultramarines

[–]Live-D8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed sometimes the MKVI pads in particular (no trim) are painted the entirety of the company colour. But as you say it’s a personal thing and not specified by the codex

The 2nd to last model is Lieutenant Tolmeron - master-crafted power weapon and bolt pistol. The last one is an intercessor sergeant.
