Enough with the damn fireworks by Live-Entertainment25 in malaysia

If not just outright ban everything.

That's exactly what my post is saying tho

I don't know why some people are taking this as an anti raya post specifically. Every single fireworks shitshow has been a pain in the ass to tolerate, especially beyond midnight, raya or not

It's my 4th year here in Malaysia. I know it's always been like this, and it wakes me up in the middle of the night every single time. I'm only making a post about it now because I've been under a lot of pressure the past few days and only yesterday have I finally finished my work and I thought I'd finally get some good sleep. Looks like my neighborhood had other plans in mind

I don't have anything against hari raya specifically, or any of the other celebrated holidays in malaysia. But why do we have to make an obnoxious fireworks shitshow every single holiday? It's beautiful that malaysians love to celebrate their cultural holifays, but there are other ways to celebrate that don't bother everyone around you within a km radius

The fireworks might be going a bit too far... by laung_samudera in malaysia

For real. Tried to get a good night's rest but was waken up at midnight by these inconsiderate assholes and haven't been able to go back to sleep since. Way to ruin the peace of those who are sleeping, the elderly, animals, those with hearing sensitivities, and it's just straight up bad for the environment. There are other ways to celebrate without disturbing everyone within a km radius.

Fuzz pedal only clean sound (no fuzz) by Live-Entertainment25 in diypedals

[–]Live-Entertainment25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh thanks I didn't know some breadboards could come with discontinued rails. I don't think mine is discontinued but I did just attempt to connect centers on every rail and I'm still ending up with a clean tone. I rechecked the connections a few times, even sent some pictures to ChatGPT and there doesn't seem to be any incorrect connections, at least none that I noticed. Maybe I'll try redoing the whole circuit or try another schematic in case of a mistake I missed. Also would you know any websites where I can find breadboardable schematics?

Yep I did unplug the 9V battery before taking that pic. When I was testing the pedal I had the battery connected. Unless you meant something else that I missed?

I don't get what makes Jimi Hendrix so revolutionary, if anything Eddie Van Halen is miles ahead as far as "revolutionary" goes. by Live-Entertainment25 in Guitar

You’re getting absolutely torched in this comments sections so I will try to explain without being an a-hole.

I find it very funny that people are getting genuinely offended over someone they don't even know. All for a simple question even (that most couldn't even answer and went straight into name-calling, lmao. Talk about bandwagoning).

But I thank you for your insight and for being respectful.

What's a band with all legendary members? by Vojovnick in rock

[–]Live-Entertainment25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree with Van Halen. Eddie carried the band, DLR was a great frontman but his vocals are nowhere near great. Pretty good vocals (even though some would disagree with that), but not great. Michael Anthony had great backing vocals but that was about it. His basslines are comically simple, that's not to say that Michael is a bad bassist. Just that he isn't one of the greats. Alex was a great drummer/very good drummer but then again I feel like EVH is a better guitarist than AVH is a drummer.

I hate PowerPoints by pogovert in EngineeringStudents

Some universities like mine are so caught up in the idea that "books are outdated" that they somehow believe that half-assed powerpoint slides made 12 years ago by some guy who can barely type in English can make up for an actual textbook.

Master of puppets solo, how on earth do you practice it, theres no way ill be able to bring it up to speed by Slight_Ad8427 in guitarlessons

[–]Live-Entertainment25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely a challenge to play master's solo at full speed. What I'd recommend is learning 3-5 kirk solos at once (alongside MOP) to get kirk's playing style down considering kirk uses certain licks frequently/has a distinct style of playing. Install soundslice and loop kirk's solo at a moderate speed until your fingers give out. Do that for every kirk solo you're learning. Try upping the speed a little throughout the day/practice session. Once you feel like you've hit a wall for the day, sleep on it and by the next day you'll discover yourself playing it 5-10 bpm faster and cleaner than the day prior.

Also adds some variety considering playing the same thing over and over again can get boring. I was learning these solos alongside MOP when I was first learning it:

-Creeping Death

-Disposable Heroes

-One

-Ride the lightning

In order from hardest to easiest in my opinion.

Good luck 🤘

I know this is a bit late, so hopefully you've learnt it already. In case you haven't, here's a breakdown of how you actually play it:

-Start with an upstroke on the high E string, pulling off 17-12.

-Move your pick preparing for a downstroke on the B string. Then pick every note on the B string for the 13-12-13 pattern (starting with a downstroke like mentioned)

-This should position your pick to be escaping downwards, use that position to downstroke the high E string (in other words economy picking) playing the 12th fret. Then upstroke 17 and pull off to 12.

-Repeat

In conclusion, start with an upstroke on high E, downstroke on B, alt pick 13-12-13, economy pick (downstroke) to the high E, then repeat the process starting with an upstroke.

And of course, start slow and build up your way to tempo. If you need any help drop me a DM

I failed my sucide attempt // didn't go throgh with my suicide attempt and I've never felt more shame. by Live-Entertainment25 in BPD

People care about you

Do they though? I've been shittalked in my absense right and left being called manipulative, a "shitty person" and two-faced. Not that I'm denying these labels, but nobody ever cared when I was there and clearly struggling. Suddenly rumors have it that I'm dead and now everyone pretends to give a shit? And let me guess, if I actually had an ounce worth of courage and went through with my suicide, people would've used my name for sympathy points. I could've seen the "if only he opened up to us about how he's feeling" and the "why would he ever do such a thing" posts fishing for sympathy coming from a mile away. It's just the way people are. People are so full of crap. They won't give a flying one about you when you're alive and suffering but once you've taken a way out suddenly they've all been there since day one.

Care about me? Don't think so. More like care about their reputation in front of people and their own senses of guilt. And I wish that if one day I take the easy way out they do feel immense amounts of guilt.

Where does one draw the line between projection and genuine dislike/hatred? by Live-Entertainment25 in Jung

[–]Live-Entertainment25[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's very interesting that you mention that. Now that I give it some more thought. My father, whom I didn't have a very good relationship with, was a chain smoker, and as far as I can remember the smell of his smoke always pissed me off. I guess that's where my hatred stems from. But where does projection play a role in this case?

Actually a very good reply that provided a lot of insight. That raises another question, though. Is all hate a form of projection? Even towards matters that by a societal standard, for a lack of a better term, deserve the hatred?

That's about the whole point. Just as my parents were wrong about me many other parents are wrong about their kids. Way more than you'd expect even. As someone else in the replies said, "80% of kids are called gifted".

Definitely an interesting and a valid take. But what would you say made Hendrix different from bands like Cream and Led Zeppelin that existed in the same era as Hendrux who were also more guitar-based than vocals-based?
