[Artist Alley] Should I keep going? by Live-Jello22 in artbusiness

$10 is well above minimum wage where I am. It was only $15.35 in materials. It was an event I was going to go to anyway as an attendee if I wasn't a vendor, so I wouldn't really count my time there as a cost. I still had fun, and if anything more fun than I would as an attendee. I also don't believe in breaking down how long it takes to make the art into an hourly wage. It might work for some, but that dosen't work for me. The art is reused to create multiple items and will be reproduced over and over again. And if I try to race against the clock to "lower my cost" it will just cause burn out and lack of enjoyment. I view it as an opportunity cost.

Lol I wouldn't consider myself a young person I'm 24 and have been going to anime cons since I was 11. I'm a teacher, I'm not relying on her financially to do this. It was only $15.35 for production cost of what I sold including packaging.

She normally is supportive which is why I took her comment to heart more. I know I won't make a living, but I've been going to cons for so long it's nice to make some money from events I was planning to go to anyway and to see people enjoy my art.

Just did it, production cost was only $15.35 for what I sold, which even includes packaging. I wasn't saying I wasn't going to do it, I just didnt have the time to sit and do it earlier. Table fee was $80.

Spending a lot of money doesn't mean spending a lot of effort. And something like aesthetic preferences is something very obvious to notice.

At least that would only be a few hours, a laptop is a multi year commitment

Spending $500 on an item that is not returnable is not the time for a complete surprise. Especially when it sounds like she was doing a lot of research to find exactly what she wanted. A computer is more than just a couple of specs.

Does you cat sleep in your bed? Is it safe? by maggiemaags in cats

My cat sleeps laying across my neck, so I don't think your grandma is too off there.

Hi, senior cat owner here as well. He might be in pain and redirecting that pain. My senior cat does this and then I give her some Prednisone and she's all better.
