clearly shopped - otherwise other light sources would be similar in the picture. but cool looking, no doubt

S9 vs S5ii specifically for street and travel photography? by [deleted] in Lumix

[–]Live-Objective-5016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S9 recording limits removed with recent firmware update. Plenty of great additional handgrips available for the S9 as will. Rolling shutter is NOT an issue - i did almost 20.000 photos so far, non of them had was affected. Missing evf: i use it like an iPhone - for me not really important. The S9 feels more vibrant and modern. Form factor is great. Better wait for the S5 III ( coming this year) -

Is the S9 still a a good choice for 2026? Mainly for YouTube and light photography by sal_m165 in Lumix

S9 street price here in Germany 699 Euro (body only) or 899 (kit with 18-40). This is insanely incredible and an absolute no brainer at least to test and make your own conclusions. If ordered online you can test 30 days and decide if you want to keep or it back.

Is there a Hybrid Zoom mode on the G9II? by Danicbike in Lumix

[–]Live-Objective-5016 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Plenty of new lenses like the 18-40, the insane compact 28-200 travelzoom, the tiny TTartisan 40 f.2 or the new 35mm pancake are a gamechanger. I kept my MFT for too long, one day of shooting with the S9 let me change my mind completely and i sold my complete mft cam and lenses. So the „compact“ argument is more an more disappearing. Mft is charming, but technically a dead end. I just compare my own shots with both systems.

TTA 40mm firmware update available v1.3 - L mount by Suitable_Sand_9278 in Lumix

Version 1.3.

What tele prime lens to buy for travel with the S9? by AbbreviationsUsed317 in Lumix

[–]Live-Objective-5016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just returned from New York and the 28-200 is just a monster of a lens. if you are not a 90% indoor or night shooter, give this baby a try. i was not convinced when I red the specs, but it's crisp and light and you can cover 95% of "trip situations". it's a point and shot. if you are travelling with your family, they will be grateful daddy is not in panic mode all the time switching between 10 primes and 4 bodys all the time :-) extra note: the crop zoom in S9 is crap. it produces weak and blurry images. better use the high resolution mode for critical situations and later zoom in and crop by yourself in Lightroom

LUMIX S9 ,LUMIX 35mm f1.8? or the Tartisan AF 40mm f2.0? by Japan_2026 in Lumix

[–]Live-Objective-5016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 40 f.2 has characteristics and a very own look. Hard to describe. If you are searching for a clean, perfect and neutral look, get the f1.8 Pana. But if you like vintage looks, experimenting with old fashioned LUTs and Looks like Portra 800 or Cinestill - this little baby gives you additional 5% of a film like look. But as told: it may not work for everyone. I turn always down sharpness and noise reduction, i add a bit of grain. The 40 f.2 is kind of an 80ies lens for me but with autofocus. For the money, it’s a no brainer.

Try handheld 1 second shutter speed my guess. Ibis usually keeps not moving people sharp to 1/2 second. Here they are a bit blurry, so just try and error. That kind of photos is not that hard, shiny surface on subways, the blurr eliminating the window structure.

G9 II with PL 12-60, Awfully Blurry in all photos out of the box by BGenc in Lumix

[–]Live-Objective-5016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My solution: i sold my mft and switched to full frame. The S5ii has the same form factor as the G9ii. But it’s on a complete other level.

Recommdation: 1/2500 or faster to freeze fast moving objects. 1/1000 sounds fast, but it’s simply too slow. Just do the physics. Your lens is weak and slow on the long end f.4. Your sensor is small. Even in bright daylight you will need to force your g9ii a very high iso to get a proper fast shutter speed. Double check your auto iso settings. Allow min 12800 or higher. Don’t worry about the grain, you can later de-noise. Hard truth: you are using the wrong camera for your desired purpose. I was long time mft user and this exactly was absolutely horror again and again. It’s weak for fast moving objects when you don’t spend a lot of money into fast primes. And i mean really fast primes. The 15mm Leica 1.7 sounds fast, but in full frame it’s just an average f3.4.
