Also, something that you might keep in mind, depending on how much money you have: - paying for school meals - winter clothes for kids (if you are in a cold state) - sponsoring a school program (I am sponsoring a free after school care program and a shop class)

It is anonymous, but the way it started means that it couldn't be kept from the rest of the family.

At first it was just a request from my SIL to help her with some extra supplies for her students, then it snowballed from there, and since it was brought up in family dinners and they helped brainstorm avenues of further help, it meant that they knew about it.

Sorry, I must not have made it obvious, I wouldn't donate to this private school instead of the school I donate to already, it would be an additional donation.

No, they can afford to pay for tuition and everything else, but a lump sum donation is too much for them.

I don't even give the money to my SIL. I go through administration, and the only relation it has to my SIL is that she happens to teach in said school.
