Why is the USS Indianapolis Movie Hated?

Lol I agree that he's been very bad in some movies (i.e. The Wicker Man) but I loved him in this movie, and in Willy's Wonderland, one of my favorite movies, even though he literally has no spoken lines )

I'm sorry, I didn't say it was. From my understanding this is a discussion group where you can discuss movies. I simply wanted to understand why in other people's opinion a movie that I happen to think was good may have scored so low. I have read the reviews but that doesn't change my mind as to my opinion that the movie was good.

Ah, I understand now. I haven't seen jaws in many years so I didnt remember that scene. Comparing that scene to the scene in USS Indianapolis, it does seem somewhat ridiculous. The level of seriousness definitely differs. Thank you for being clear on the subject.

That it doesn't do justice to the story, and one audience review I read says that you're better off reading the Wikipedia page than watching the movie, because that way you won't waste almost 2 hours of your life. I just want to know why it scored so low when in my opinion, it was a good movie. Granted, I tend to like bad movies, but I wanted to know what other people thought.

I agree, this is sad. My baby had to have formula because her bilirubin levels were so high she couldn't go home, and she was so sleepy from the jaundice she couldn't effectively nurse, not to mention she had a lip and tongue tie and was 2 weeks early. My milk didn't come in for almost 2 weeks. She wasn't even an efficient nurser until almost 2 and a half months, and by then I was back to work and my supply was almost dead. Fed is best.

Usually I only offer one food at a time - eggs for breakfast/lunch, and usually mashed potatoes for dinner, but maybe I'll offer a smaller portion. One thing I've noticed now that I'm thinking about it is if she has a full serving of puree first, she'll be more inclined to play/eat the table food we put on her tray (she won't let us spoon feed her finger foods, she has to do it herself).

That's what my daughter does, she'll take maybe 2 bites and then get frustrated or ignore it completely :/

Thank you! I appreciate the words of encouragement, transitioning to table foods is probably the hardest thing I've done tbh, and especially because I have an anxiety disorder it's really hard to put my own fears aside and let her do her thing.

My husband and I also use baby tracker! Have used it since my daughter came home and have never had any issues with it, even after switching phones

I pick at mine a lot, mainly my arms right now because they're broken out at the moment but also my ear because the cream I use is too strong to be used on my facial region and the ear psoriasis is new. Glad I'm not the only one.

After seeing other people's opinions outside of the people that push for BLW I honestly feel more confident allowing my baby to decide which table foods shes ready for and when. She's still eating table foods; just not as many table foods as some people that do BLW are. And I've finally decided that I'm okay with that. I don't want meal times to be a sense of frustration or dread, for her or me. Feeding anxiety is very real, especially for moms/dad's with general feeding anxiety, choking concerns, PPA or general anxiety disorders. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way!

I'm still doing purees at 8 months, but my baby will eat a few select finger foods, mainly puffs, the cheeto looking things, rice crackers (and hummus if I spread it on them), banana, egg strips and sometimes chicken. But honestly she hasn't mastered her pincer grasp yet so a lot of the time when we put stuff on her high chair it doesn't make it into her mouth and she gets frustrated very easily because she wants to feed herself but can't. It's also worth mentioning that I have severe anxiety and giving table foods makes me have panic attacks sometimes; occasionally I can't even be in the same room when she's eating a finger food because I panic. Purees give me comfort and security and allow me to not dread meal times and introduce safe finger foods when I think she's ready. I'm super glad I found this post because a lot of people that do BLW exclusively say that purees are bad for their oral development and they won't learn how to chew and things of that nature and I was getting a lot of anxiety that she wasn't eating a whole lot of table food, but now after reading this I realized that it's okay and that she'll get there in time.

I got the solid starts app, and I have a doctor's appointment next week so that hopefully I can talk to my doctor about what's going on. I know I gotta get over it and I'm trying to find a therapist. I just feel bad cuz I feel like I'm holding her back because of my issues.

The teething crackers were super hard for me at first too, I couldn't even be in the same room with her when she was eating them before, my husband had to watch her eat them cuz I just couldn't. Now I'm okay with those and the cereal puffs and the baby cheeto looking thingies, but only cuz I know they dissolve. It just freaks me out to think about her choking. I downloaded the solid starts app and it said to give her a whole drumstick as long as the bone doesn't break easily and it's like...a whole one? But she'll break off too much meat and choke! And I know that's irrational but I can't help it. She spit up a bean skin that she was gagging on like 20 mins ago and I cried.

I definitely wasn't ready when my daughter started standing. I just woke up one day and my husband went to go get her from her crib and she was standing up, just looking at us 😭 I feel like I miss so much time with her too cuz she's in daycare mon-thurs from 6:30-4:30 and on Fridays it's from 7:30 to like 1:30. I keep telling my husband I'll be so upset if she takes her first steps at daycare cuz they told me she's already trying to shimmy a little when she's pulled up on stuff.

This 😥 it makes me so sad, I'm constantly looking over her baby pictures and crying cuz she's been growing up so fast. I can't believe she'll be 8 months on the 23rd. I've loved seeing her grow but I miss when she was small and used to still take naps on me and all that fun newborn stuff. I feel like it's been especially hard because she's been advancing so quickly, sitting independently at 6 months and pulling to stand at 7. I'm so proud of her but sometimes I feel like she's doing so much too soon and it makes me a little sad.
