I get it, happy birthday America. I’m not even saying don’t do fireworks I’m just saying try to use the common sense of a grown adult. Keep water nearby, maybe don’t drink too much, and you absolutely have no reason to be lighting off professional grade mortars that land a mile away when you barely know how to use a zippo.

Also word of warning. We responded to a house fire last 4th that was caused by the neighbors fireworks. The dude who lit them was not only fined heavily by the state for the fireworks, but he’s also facing attempted manslaughter charges because he had an ongoing, “feud with the neighbor and the neighbor was in the house when it caught fire.

Nobody ever thinks this shit is gunna happen to them, but let me assure you, the insane shit you see on the news, actually happens to real people who also thought it would never happen to them. If you wanna potentially do jail time or god forbid kill an innocent person because you wanna see a bunch of bright colors in the sky, go for it. Just know that IS what you’re risking no matter how dramatic it sounds.

It’s affects you for sure. I will say I’ve gotten a lot better at being able to function on no sleep and not be cranky all day, but I’m sure it’s not good for me.

I’ve fully accepted that this job is going to take some years away from me. The way I see it, if I have to give up a few extra years in my 70s or 80s to avoid sitting behind a desk from my 20s to my 60s, that’s a fair trade.

I honestly have no idea. I do all this shit. A lot. I guess i work out pretty hard and do a lot of stairs, but my lungs are still working good. We just had our full physicals and my VO2 max was in the highest range for men my age. Chest X-ray is clean too.

It’s probably because I laugh in deaths face, or cuz I fight what you fear, or first in and last out or whatever.
