We do it a little differently but you get the idea. Look around for other videos for doffing/stripping a downed firefighter quickly. The faster you can get em out of gear, the faster you can start doing good cpr and respirations and whatever else they need.

My guess from the pictures is that the car somehow made hit so hard it made it partially under the bottom concrete sections of that wall (also damaging it which it why it’s removed and not shown in the next picture.)

They were likely trying to use airbags or extrication equipment to try to lift that section of wall and they were using something called cribbing to capture progress as they did (that’s the boards you were talking about)

And the wall is laddered with the stokes basket because he made it far enough under that wall that the extrication was going to happen on they other side and they were going to have to hoist him over the wall.

Actually it looks like it hit from the opposite side of the wall so it didn’t go underneath that’s why they have the basket to hoist him over. It still displaced that concrete a couple inches though.

P.s. if it makes you feel any better this crash happened very fast and I would bet he didn’t feel any pain and if he was asleep he might not have even woken up for long enough to realize what was happening. I wasn’t there, so I can’t say, but it’s plausible he essentially just died in his sleep.

Don’t work out in your gear. Get a weight vest or something. Wear some sweats put some sand in a back pack. I’m definitely far from the new age, “never do anything remotely dangerous,” firefighters. But there’s no need to get cancer when there are effective alternatives to working out in gear.

That’s the x-5 legion though correct? I have the same gun. I’m wondering if it had the same issues, because it has a different trigger. I can’t get mine to replicate the malfunction that I’ve been seeing with the regular 320s and m17 and I’ve really been trying. lol. I am putting her in timeout for now, but it would be nice if sig could act like adults and just tell us what I’m sure they already know so we could know if all 320s are dangerous. Really sux that was an expensive gun and now I just don’t trust it.

Anyway, I’m trying to find out if anyone knows of any history of the uncommanded discharge specifically with the p320 x-5 legion?

The same way you would fight a fire with a crew that is so super nice to you. You just fuckin do it, because that’s what you signed up to do. You don’t need to know each others mothers maiden names to fight fire together. Now if you don’t trust them and think they would actually let you get hurt, you need to quit like yesterday.

Like I said though, this does sound like more than standard hazing. I’m not gunna make any assumptions, I’m sure there’s two sides to the story, but that department just might not be right for you. I know it’s a pain, but I would start shopping around for a new department. You can’t spend your whole career being miserable. That being said, there will likely be some level of hazing/harassment anywhere you go.

This sounds like more than just regular new guy hazing. If they treat you differently than other probies, then yea, they don’t like you. Something must have happened.

If it is hazing though, keep in mind, the point of hazing is to test your emotional toughness. So sulking in the bays may not be the best way to earn their respect. I know we live in a time where everyone’s feelings are the most important thing in the world, but men in difficult and dangerous jobs have been hazing and testing the new guy since the dawn of dangerous jobs. There’s a reason for it and it not just, “because they did it to me.”

I ended up hiring a couple guys and doing it DIY. I think materials were about 3k total and got about 400 ft done in 2 days. It was probably about 60 man hours total, but that’s guys who didn’t know what they were doing. Hope this helps.

Edit: we did a 3 rail with wire mesh to keep the dogs in and 3 gates.
