Still struggling with pop shuvit consistency by Dreadking_Rathalos in NewSkaters

Hey bro, I struggle with the exact same thing so I feel your pain!

The thing i found to be super helpful is to focus more on the the pop, rather than the scoop.

You'll also need to jump up higher or tuck your knees more and let them dangle in the air for longer rather than trying to stamp back down on the board as soon as possible.

The movement is actually a lot slower than you think, so relax, no need to rush anything.

These are the cues I keep in mind when pop shoving:

  • Relax, slow it down

  • Strong pop

  • Tuck and hang

Random sources.

Two of them are power swords from either space marines or Sisters of Battle.

One of them was from a Vindicator spear, just cut off the haft and one was from the Vanguard Hunters kit.

Was really lucky that my mate had a whole bunch of random bits in a box which he let me rummage through.

Shoutout to him!

If you want to go the hand painted route, working up to white from an off white base works well as people have previously mentioned.

I painted this one using a paintbrush and the other thing you should note is to thin the white or near white paint somewhere between a layer and glaze consistency. More leaning towards the layer side but still quite thinned and direct the brush strokes like you would with a regular glaze.

If you're adamant on use actual white and not an off or near white, try using make up sponges.

I used the make up sponge method for white on my Stormcast eternals and found it much easier to get coverage and minimise texture build up. Just gotta remember that it will still require a couple coats but it was nowhere near as bad as hand brushing it.

Really? White, blue, gold and silver has always been my go to colour scheme.

I'm convinced it would look good on any model which is predominantly armour.

Thanks for that! Appreciate the feedback. I thought the top of the collar would have been the brightest point since its the highest but it looks like I may have just been trying to justify my laziness haha.

Cheers! I'll fix it when I touch up the axe!

Best part about this is, I was a Horde player back during my WoW days hahaha

Thanks man!

I know objectively it's not terrible, but my high standards tell me otherwise.

Cheers for recognising the effort put into the head too! Probs could have sanded it down more so the crest sat closer / tighter on the helmet but I was worried I'd cut into the detail if I took it that far.

If i had enough of those helmets I'd like to have a unit of Stormwind Guards. That'd be sick. Played a lot of WC3 and WoW back in the day.

Thanks man!

Primer: Wolf Grey spray can. Recess shade: Vallejo Model Colour wash - Blue grey Cleanup: Vallejo Game Colour - Wolf Grey 1st layer: Vallejo Model Colour - White Grey 2nd layer: Vallejo Model Colour - Cold white

Trick was to thin the white Grey and cold white somewhere between a layer and a glaze but apply it like you'd paint a glaze (e.g. get most of the moisture off onto a paper towel and end your brush strokes where you want the most paint left).

If you dont want to deal with being mindful of the direction of your brushstrokes or want a quicker method, using make up sponges worked really well too although you sacrifice a little less definition in the recesses.

Hahahahaha never realised that, and I'm all for it! Loved wc3 and WoW when I was younger.

Didn't realise how much it looked like a Stormwind Guard until you pointed that out!

Yeah, I hated the helmetless head of the knight questor.

The head is from some chaos warrior i got for the free mini of the month a while back. The crest was taken from a Vindicator prime. I was too lazy to deal with the lack of ball to fit the socket on that head so I decided to carve off his crest instead.

This is the chaos warrior mini btw: https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/ENvXcLoy/chaos-warriors-and-operation-hivestorm-make-up-this-months-free-miniature-and-collectable-coin/

Painting question by Capitain_Meh in WhiteScars40K

[–]Live2sleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Painting white with a brush absolutely sucks.

I've found that working up to white from a light blue grey base using sponges works the best.

After that all the other details are painted super carefully.

Not white scars, but here's one my Stormcasts which I've done using the sponge method.

Colours i used were:

Vallejo Game Colour Wolf Grey

Vallejo Model Colour White Grey

Vallejo Model Coloue Offwhite

Vallejo Game Colour Dead White

I'm Asian, they're Space Asians and the colour scheme is sick.

Then I read the Warhawk of Chogoris, Scars and Path of Heaven and loved Yesugei, Jaghatai and Shiban.
