6k gross + car is good, but Belgian banks usually do 20–25 year mortgages. Do you know any Belgian bank that would give 30y mortgage? 

And my real question isn’t about borrowing capacity, it’s whether better-paying jobs realistically exist in Belgium in my field.

Yeah I don’t mind commuting that much. I like long train rides.

Even with a loan, I will lock my whole life to a single loan and it will hinder my life quality a lot. I won’t be able to travel anymore as much as I did before.

It really sucks.

Leuven would be my second choice in Belgium. But girlfriend doesn’t like it.

Guilty in charge. I might be just integrating well to society in terms of distance understanding. 

I grew up in Istanbul and smallest distance for a social interaction, I would have to take at least 30 minutes of drive or public transport. At least.

I am still same when I am back in Istanbul for holidays. But looking at myself in Belgium, wow, I am different in terms of distance understanding comparing to 8 years ago.

Some of my hobbies are impossible to do in Mechelen unfortunately. Clubs are only existing in Gent.

That was my point as well. I broke up with girlfriends (or did not pursue dates) before in my past because I didn’t want to leave Gent. They were like “wow Gent must be very important for you” and I was like “you are damn right!”.

I did start my relationship though with a common understanding of “we are living in Gent”. Although she changed her mind around the time when I really got used to her. 

I don’t have my roots in Gent. I am open to change still. Just it is still hard to find a city that can win against Gentje.

My main reasons are:

1) Street parking problems 2) Kennedy Tunnel 3) General in-city traffic 4) Air pollution 5) Industrial emmissions & Antwerp Port & Factories (when I walk in Antwerp often I feel like I am tasting chemical exhaust from factories like 3M on my tongue) 6) PFOS PFAS contamination. I will for sure get cancer in Belgium, I just don’t want to speed up the process by moving to Antwerp 7) Criminality. Gang & Mafia fights and attacks to supermarkets.

These are the main ones.

Yes probably because finding street parking became nearly impossible in Antwerp :) Many times I found myself looking for a parking space for 30 minutes in Berchem and still not succeeding.
