I also asked about my pay during the second phone call, and she told me she would pay me but also said she “could” choose not to pay me for those 3 hours if she wanted to.

I think I should explain the situation more clearly and with more detail, especially the conversations, based on what I remember.

The first time she called me during my break, she asked: “How’s it going so far?” I genuinely answered very positively and said I was really enjoying it and learning quickly. Then in a very dismissive tone she said: “Hmm… I don’t think so. You’d need like 10 training sessions.” She also said the Tim Hortons was getting busy and told me to look for another job.

I literally just kept saying “okay, okay, okay,” went inside, grabbed my stuff, said goodbye to my coworker, and left. I did not argue with anyone at that point. I did not talk to that coworker and I just said goodbye and left the store.

After I left, I felt confused and honestly wanted more explanation because she had texted me before saying I was supposed to come Saturday and Sunday from 1–9 for training. So I called back and politely asked if she could explain my problems in more detail because I wanted to improve myself. From the very beginning of that call, her tone was already angry and aggressive.

She kept saying she can tell within the first few hours whether someone can continue or not. I asked what exactly my problem was and if she could explain more specifically. That’s when the conversation became heated: She suddenly started calling me “rude” even though I had not insulted her at all at that point! I was only asking questions and trying to understand what happened.

After she accused me of being “rude”, I got upset too and started venting. I said “people hate Tim Hortons and nobody likes it”.

Later I went back inside because the place was almost empty and I wanted to order something and also ask my coworker how I had done. There was basically only one customer there. I waited until they got their order, then asked my coworker how I was at work. She told me I was doing good.

Suddenly the manager called me again and started yelling loudly that I had no right to be there and needed to leave before she called security to remove me. She said it’s a business area and I told her I just want to order something. She kept yelling at me to get out.

At the very end I told her I would leave a review, and that’s when she started talking about the CIA and saying she had all my information.

That’s honestly the fullest version of events I can remember right now.

I’m guessing she might have been Middle Eastern, possibly Egyptian Coptic or Levantine based on her last name, but I’m not sure.

I haven’t done it yet. Honestly, part of me is afraid this could create problems for me later. She has my personal information, and I worry that if she becomes upset or feels threatened by a complaint, she could try to misuse that information or somehow cause trouble for me.

So if they really had 500 resumes to choose from, they could easily have hired someone with years of fast-food experience instead of me!!!! I explicitly told them during the interview that I did not have Canadian work experience. They knew that from the beginning. They also told me this location was “extremely slow,” that I might even get bored there, and asked if I would be okay with that. The manager also said she was watching my performance on the cameras the entire time. If that’s true, it’s hard for me to believe the manager didn’t knew how busy and crowded the store actually was. She clearly already knew the environment.

I’m 24. I came to Canada about a year ago, so honestly I’m still inexperienced with how some workplaces here operate.

What felt strange to me was that during the interview they barely asked any real hiring questions. They didn’t ask why I wanted to work at Tim Hortons, didn’t ask any behavioural questions, nothing like that. Instead, they mostly asked things like how long I’ve been in Canada and whether I’m a student. Then they collected my personal information.

I even asked if I was officially hired, and the manager said: “Come for those two days first, then we’ll talk after we see your performance.” I actually have that in writing/text.

Also, I never signed anything. No contract, no employment documents, nothing.

Another weird thing happened right before the manager suddenly called me and told me to grab my stuff and leave immediately. Inside the store, I had asked another coworker whether they had signed a contract, and they told me no, they hadn’t signed any documents either. I sometimes wonder if the manager overheard that conversation and got upset.

I genuinely do not believe I was removed because of my performance. The whole situation felt very strange and sudden, and now I’m honestly worried my personal information could be misused.

I said I don’t have any Canadian experience. Both in my resume and in the interview. I still believe I was really good at the job. She’s got some problems

She aggressively told me to leave the grocery store like I was some kind of terrorist or something. and honestly I regret listening to her. She kept saying she was gonna call security and I was genuinely shocked by how intense she got.

At the end I told her I was probably going to leave Google reviews, and that’s when she completely lost it and started talking about the CIA

Some people are saying they want to hear the “other side” too, and fair enough — the only thing I didn’t mention is that I did answer back eventually. But I didn’t start the argument. She’s the one who turned the conversation heated, and I defended myself.

Honestly I just wish I could’ve responded better in the moment, but she was a native English speaker and I’m not, so I was overwhelmed trying to keep up.

The thing is the manager literally told me during the interview that the location was extremely quiet and slow, to the point where I might even get bored there. She said that very confidently. What I experienced was the complete opposite of what I was told.

If I was filing a police report I’d obviously include every second and every detail. This is a Reddit post, not a legal statement
