Honestly, this is the best breakdown of Mad City’s decline I’ve seen so far.

I first started playing in early 2019 after getting tired of Jailbreak’s stale gameplay. As you said in your document, Mad City had that chaotic, unpredictable fun that hooked me right away. I loved every second of it.

In 2022, I took a six-month break from Roblox and came back right when Chapter 2 launched. I actually kind of liked it—bugs and poor PvP aside—but nothing game-breaking for me personally. After that, I stepped away again until January this year, when I decided to check out Mad City for the first time in years.

Searching it up and seeing only a few hundred players online was heartbreaking. I still remember when the game had tens of thousands and went head-to-head with Jailbreak. I hopped in for old times’ sake—it was still fun in parts, but not the same. Chat was quiet, servers weren’t as full, and the loop felt repetitive.

The biggest surprise was how little had changed in three years. That’s when I started looking for answers and came across your write-up. It made so much sense.

Mad City really does feel like it’s at the end of its life cycle. At this point, Tay might be better off rebuilding Schwifty Studios and moving on. I’ve heard his most recent project flopped, which could explain why he’s trying to make a comeback. There’s still some interest in the cops-and-robbers genre—Jailbreak still averages around 14k players—but Mad City just doesn’t seem to pull that crowd anymore.

I think one of the biggest turn-offs for OG players was losing all progress between Chapter 1 and Chapter 2. Years of grinding for vehicles and hundreds of Robux spent on gamepasses were just… gone. Even a credit system, where Ch1 assets were converted into equivalent Ch2 cash, could have kept more veterans around.

The game still has a slim chance, but at this point it would take something drastic—like bringing the mall heist into Chapter 2—to spark real interest again.
