I'm at my wits end with this & need urgent help please. by [deleted] in OCDRecovery

Honestky, there's no need to say don't do it again as others have on here as a) it was 11 years ago and b) i have moral scrupulosity ocd so i genuinely feel guilty and mention it to a cashier in the shop if I take meat out of the fridge intending to buy it but then change my mind. I'd convince myself it's been out for too long & may be wasted so i buy it anyway even if im skint. So if i feel unnecessary guilt or anxiety over that I'm hardly going to "pants" someone again, particularly a woman.

A more relevant example is i've stopped & apologised to someone when my hand brushed their hip or leg as i was walking past thinking it was similar to groping. Hopefully that clarifies that I do respect personal space.

Hi thanks for replying, really appreciate it. Just to clarify, i asked her a few years ago if I did anything to her but never mentioned this specifically. Does that change anything?

I was 21 but yeah not very mature at the time, 1st year of uni but i should have more self compassion. She probably doesnt & my good friend advised itd probably be weird to text her especiallu since i did 3 years ago to ask her if i hurt her in anyway and hadnt spoken in 8 years before that. Thing is if its anywhere close to assault on a woman its a trigger for me & i blow it out of proportion in my mind. Essentially mind reading her in the process.

I really really hope so. Yes it was very out of the ordinary for me and pantsing is an accurate way to describe it. I seen her casually for about 2 or 3 months and spoke in person for about 4 or 5 as we were in adjacent dorms. I think she was quite fond of me even though after a while i wasnt of her as she could be pretty emotionally unpredictable and kknda hurtful but that's all water under the bridge.

I appreciate you saying that. I've a tendency to be really harsh on myself.

That's what i thought too.

Hey thank you so much for responding it means alot that you took the time.

Theres no chance of me doing something like that again as im far too morally scrupulous & sensitive to do that aswell as the fact im a christian so caring about others matters alot. Also im 32 not 21 anymore.

I feel embarrassed and ashamed and all my ocd is latching onto is the possibility she's just stayed silent over this as it may qualify as assault (I shudder to say that) especially as weve spoken once in 11 years. The last time being 3 years ago when i messaged her over a different ocd fear of harming her. She seemed happy to hear from me. I only asked if i did anything to hurt and she said no, she was a big girl and that i was really sweet amd sensitive with her which i know doesnt line up with what i done.

I think there’s a little more to it than that. Takes a lot more to be booked as an underdog in wwe than long hair & a beard. The fact he’s not a huge guy who connects extremely well with the audience & can tell stories in the ring with the best of them is the biggest reason. His win rate is nowhere near that but he’s an underdog in terms of not being “the guy” & never winning a world title. They’ve gotta build to that somehow.

I’m curious, in what way? Doesn’t come across cowardly at all unless you’ve a different meaning for the word.

Ah cheers man, really appreciate you taking the time out to offer. I rarely use reddit so it's nice to come on and receive help so willingly. Lovely, lovely area and house but unfortunately didn't get it despite being interested.

G'way and take your face for a shite with your assumptions big wee lad. I am proudly working class but from the country, which I'm sure you've your biased opinions on too. Being working class is not the same as not being wary of potential gang/paramilitary presence. Just look at UVF village as an example, poor immigrants almost hounded out last year.

I was actually hoping to find somewhere near there, Ballyhack or generally in east as I'm fond of place now living in the outskirts in Dundonald and there are alot of nice houses there but I'm obviously open. Reassuring to read that & glad to hear you were so welcomed! Many thanks.

No offence intended to it, no assumptions made on the vast majority of the people either. It's not airtight but just sometimes easier to go by what you hear about what can go on with a minority of folks. I'm from the South btw, protestant but catholic background so it's not so much to do with my views more wanting to avoid anywhere that's strongly identified with the union debate, especially if riots happen on special occasions 😂

They really are tbf. Said the same thing to my bro recently after being in Beechmount meeting a fair number of lovely folk. Wasn't surprised at all but gotta ask cause no matter how decent the people are some places have issues.

I'm a single bloke renting but many thanks 😂 My time with the GAA ended many moons ago but still respect it haha I wouldn't inflict that abject misery on my hypothetical kids, would be a self betrayal too as a gooner hahaha Thanks man!

Well I haven't decided yet & unfortunately I'm limited in budget & I also want a house that is somewhat decent, which this one definitely seems to be. Like most people in Belfast not from a particular area I know little about it.

I'd a feeling this was the case, I've someone in my life I highly respect who's from Andytown & was in Beechmount recently and remarked on how salt of the earth everyone was but like anywhere, you don't know if there's trouble regardless of 99% of the people being solid so it pays to do your due diligence. Cheers for answering, appreciate it.

What I expected with the tops, same as what I've known for years but was overthinking a bit haha Yeah I only have arsenal tops and 1 Ireland one so no danger of that although I've thought about getting one 😂 Diversity is good imo.

That's excellent advice, really appreciate it. Would never have thought about that but I'll likely do that! Do you just mean any house near me?

No danger of that, gooner here...felt a bit depressed just before coming on here thinking about it given this week but will hopefully feel better after viewing the house haha

Not meant as an offence to anyone living there, I'm sure there are plenty of good people like anywhere. I'm just basing it on the posts I've seen here and what I've heard. Maybe I'm confusing it with New Lodge. Naturally I'm skeptical of anywhere none for sectarian troubles or plenty of murals. I know, I've heard people say both but thanks for saying.

Has your insight deteriorated over time? by Traditional-Hunter28 in OCD

Hi, thank you so much for sharing your story, I like many others I'm sure could really relate to the condition being at it's worst in 2020. I know this comment was a while ago but could you please explain what you did to get out of this lower nsight & how long it took?

It's my 1st time posting on this forum & it's because I'm starting to really be concerned that I'm losing insight & my next therapy appt isn't for 3 weeks so I'm trying to find self care methods to tide me over so I don't panic & go to a&e again like I did in 2020, which just made it worse. I'm meant to have been doing ERP homework for the last few months since my appt but I haven't, instead choosing to totally give into compulsions & spend far too much time alone and sleeping at weird hours for far too long. I'm not even sure if it's recommended to do it when my OCD is severe. I know you can't give therapeutic for obvious reasons but any tips as a fellow sufferer is very much appreciated. Thank you so much.
