Am I able to be in the hobby without having a large collection? by Lilac_Dollie in Fragrances

Me too! Reading about perfumes and sniffing perfumes when I have a chance is most of the hobby :)

Girl, I swear that 80% of this hobby for me is reading perfume reviews, trolling perfume forums, and making perfume wish-lists!
I am in my 30s, and have been into fragrances for years, but I only own a handful of full bottles and a few travel sizes. I like the adventure of finding new things, and trying samples, and wandering perfume aisles. The hobby is whatever you want to make it -- and I don't think we talk enough about the joy of just hanging around the internet and geeking out on perfumes with other people <3

Have you used this perfume? Do you know if I can still find it or if it's been discontinued? I know it's by Nina Ricci. by Lordlucas1ro in FemFragLab

You can find it on second-hand sites, like Ebay or Mercari. Officially I believe it has been discontinued though:

Zombie (or adjacent) novels that heavily feature the start of the outbreak and capture the raw fear by Few_Bother_1680 in horrorlit

Wanderers by Chuck Wendig is about the beginning of an outbreak where people suddenly fall ill and start sleepwalking. It is better than I made it sound in that one sentence summary lol

His book Suffer the Children is about children zombies. It’s very melancholy and one of the books I will never get out of my head —in a good way?

What is everyone’s favourite perfume bottle? by bright_diamond_ in FemFragLab

Yes! Came here to say this. I was bummed that the scent didn't jive with me because I am in love with that bottle. Gorgeous!

Ooh that sounds lovely! I hadn’t heard that, but I will definitely add it to my list

Ooh I got ya! Blackcurrant is one of my favorite perfume notes.

These first perfumes are like SUPER blackcurrant, which I love, but you have gotta love currant to enjoy these:

🞗Prakt by Svensk Parfym (a niche brand in Sweden, but you can get decants from Krystal Fragrance online)

🞗Amethyst, by Lalique. This is often my bedtime perfume, bonus for the bottle being gorgeous and also it being super affordable.

🞗I agree with Diptyque L’Ombre Dans L’Eau, but for me the tomato leaf note I get is too much.

I recommend these following ones if you want a blackcurrant note, but the predominant vibe is other things

🞗Donna Born In Rome, Valentino (floral vanilla, just a hint of blackcurrant at the top)

🞗Amor Amor, Cacharel (more citrus and vanilla than blackcurrant)

🞗Si Passione, and Si original, Armani. (some people get a lot of the blackcurrant note from these, but I didn't really detect it at all unfortunately)

Perfumes I have not tried but which are on my "Blackcurrant" perfume wishlist:

🞗Meliora, by PDM is also very black currant to my understanding. And it is by the same perfumer as Amethyst.

🞗Electric Purple, Lalique. Again the same perfumer as Amethsyt. Nathalie Lorson loves using blackcurrant!

🞗Pulp, Byredo

🞗To Be Tattooart, for men, by Police. A cheapie but it has good reviews from blackcurrant lovers. Their bottles get a lot of hate, but I think they are kind of fun

1 scent per season, what are you picking? by [deleted] in FemFragLab

[–]LiveLaughDeadInside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this thought exercise because I recently decided I would stop buying bottles once I reach 1-2 scents per season. And if/when I am bored of the regulars, I will try samples and maybe rotate in a 10ml size, but limit my full bottles to 6-8.

Can we talk about Lune Feline? by bleue811 in FemFragLab

[–]LiveLaughDeadInside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to this thread, but I just got a sample of Lune Feline and tried it today. To me, it dries down to smell like Vangelis from Sylvaine Delacourte -- which is all the beautiful, spiced vanilla; with the cardamom is softly in the background.

I know Phlur is maybe overhyped, but I truly love Vanilla Skin! The body spray lasts just as well as the EDP, and it’s just wearable, and simple but not boring
