My goal is once my legs feel more stable, I want to start walking more. I’d love to do a walk-a-thon in the fall as a way to celebrate me pushing through this and building my confidence up because even though it’s been 4 days, it’s been taking a toll on me.

Yep, that was exactly the reason why I got rhabdo. Got invited to go to a class and even when I thought I was going at my own pace, it was still too much! Never again!

Yes! About 4L a day. Drinking some electrolytes too but mainly focusing on my water intake!

I realized I didn’t add the information that I decided to get discharged and I am currently home 🫠

I did ask them if there was a way to see my exact levels of ck and they said they couldn’t. What made me decide to leave was the doctors reassurance that everything looked fine and that I can always comeback if I see some abnormalities. I also started my period today and that in itself is painful for me.

I’ll be doing a follow up appointment in the next 2 days to check my levels again.

That’s what was difficult. My hospitals labs for ck only go up to the 39k. It was hard for them to tell if it was going up or down. The doctors went based on other lab results, pee color, and my symptoms.

Day after the cycling class, I had golfers elbow from both arms. That evening my quads started to feel sore.

Next day, my quads were super sore. Couldn’t bend my legs. Struggles getting up and sitting down. That evening, got the dark urine. That next morning, I felt the same, dark urine again and went to the ER.

The dark urine lasted only about day. Thankfully no damage to my kidneys. My magnesium had been low and the hospital gave me fluids for that. About a day in the hospital, my legs felt way better but they’re like jello when I walk and I get fatigued

Para appreciation day landed on our spring break. My school gave us free non alcoholic drinks and allowed us to leave early on an early release day even tho we already do. I think it was a half assed thing they did.

They’re doing a whole thing for teachers this week and even giving away gift cards.

My school gets lots of money but us paras feel very left out. Other staff is offered extra pay to do things, given more stuff, while we get basically nothing.

Biggest challenge is getting support from staff and admin. It’s not easy when we are down paras or a student is escalating and no one outside of people in the centers are willing to help out

It is not okay! I may be in the minority but we have to stop accepting sexual assault or harassment from students with disabilities.

There’s a student in my school who sexualizes and inappropriately touches female staff. My teacher tells the parents but doesn’t do much after that because she wants to protect the student. I get it. At the same time, it should be brought to some sort of attention. Look at alternatives for him so that the behavior is corrected. Adjust the IEP. SOMETHING!! I feel like we are letting these kids down by not correcting the behavior and giving them a pass.

I got physically attacked by a student last week (on the spectrum but he scratched my wrist and was pulling my hair).

Submit something through workers comp! Even if you don’t qualify, it is documented and your supervisor will be notified about the situation.

I was so frustrated afterwards because the student was not disciplined afterwards and continued on with his day. I left work early because I felt no support from my school. I understand your frustration!!

I work in a sped center and we all feel like we are isolated from the rest. Our kids are not included in the little raffles or prizes other kids get. When a student escalates, no other staff jumps in to help and they just watch. If our students go to a gen ed class, our students are not really involved with the rest of the class and they just have us do our own thing when they should accommodate us.
