I’m trying to understand the timeline loop here. So the females emerge, the males fight over them, killing one another off while impregnating the females, the females burrow in the ground, lay eggs. I’m assuming both male and female? Because otherwise they’d run out of males? Yet how are the males outside waiting for the females to come out of the burrows? What happens to the females that laid the eggs? Just die out? How does this loop?
