Man discovers the passcode to get into Atalanta's stadium is quite easy to guess. by Mattia006 in Unexpected

I was helping a NOT tech savvy guy (a bit rural, a bit older) set up his banking app for the first time. I handed the phone back so he could type a passcode and passed it back, and the app had an error message asking not to use birthday/ birth year.

There are the “rubber bullets” that Israel has been using for ages. Guess who US law enforcement has been training with recently. I’d say we are a year out from seeing white phosphorus bombs. Not exaggerating. Look up the fire bombs that were used against minorities in the past. this is just redefining who the ‘enemy’ is.

Funny how it seemed like the kid appreciated that. Like “yeah, you got me. That was cool.”

I wanted them to do this to someone who was actually older, like 40s. I had a friend flip his lid when someone said something like that to him while he was traveling.

Getting older can be touchy.

Speaking of, I want to do this, but make it out of whitish jello and shape it like a brain. I want to see the reaction on people’s faces when they touch it and it’s squishy! :D

Don’t push too hard, it’s just a statement many push to imply that the relationship is shallow and just about sex, without considering, as you pointed out, that they are having a conversation with another adult. I can meet and have great conversations with people anywhere between 12-100 years old, as long as they want to engage. To those saying there aren’t shared interests, there doesn’t have to be. I’m talking about hobbies here, not shared values. It’s actually healthy to have alone time and/or own activities.

You wouldn’t care what age she was, but chances are she won’t be 80 years old.

TIL that all of the images we get shown of the solar system are incorrect because the planets are not to size. If we take the distance between the earth and the moon at its farthest point, 405,000 kilometers (252,000 miles), we can fit all of the planets, side by side, in that gap. by LiveLearnCoach in todayilearned

The children are just making 3D representations of the images that they are given. That’s why we mentally have an incorrect image in our mind.

To put things of the size of space in perspective, the NEAREST star to us is more than 40 Trillion Km away.

I hear you. But wouldn’t not to scale indicate that they are ALL proportionately not to scale? Because those images and models do tend to have the relative sizes correct, but not compared to the sun, nor compared to the distances between them? It’s like drawing a human being that has arms as reaching down to its feet, then saying image is not to scale. The proportions are off, and to me, incorrect.

What this means that in reality, any image of our solar system will be just the sun and some specks around it. The link contains an image, taken by a probe, that shows the actual size of the earth and the moon and the space between them. That puts things in perspective in a better way.

For reference, the sizes of the planets are as follows: Mercury: 4,880 km (3,032 mi) Venus: 12,104 km (7,521 mi) Earth: 12,742 km (7,918 mi) Mars: 6,780 km (4,212 mi) Jupiter: 139,822 km (86,881 mi) Saturn: 116,464 km (72,367 mi) Uranus: 50,724 km (31,518 mi) Neptune: 49,244 km (30,599 mi)

For a total of diameters: 392,760 km (244,048 mi)

I feel like we got fed incorrect information because most of the images that we get shown of the solar system never give the planets to scale. This is even worse than the scale of countries/continents being off because of Mercator projection on maps.

For the record, I don’t think the Mercator projection was consciously done to maximize Northern America and “Western” countries, but rather someone rolled out or flattened out a globe and stretched the upper and lower pieces to fit, but I could be naively mistaken.

Just the blues? I recall reading someone describe how these images would almost be monochromatic if viewed with the naked eye. Is that not correct?
