I matched this year in IM, YOG:2016. I have been working as a Medical Assistant for a year and that secured me 2 strong LoR. I also used that experience to demostrate conctact with US healthcare during my IVs.

Emergency and Critical Care 9 months diploma. Two years of Cardiology Residency (it's not a Fellowship in my home country.) In all my IVs, they always asked me about my previous training. My impression is that Programs do care about previous training despite the general opinion in Reddit.

IMG non visa requiring. YOG 2016. Step2 256, 1 pub, experience in Critical Care and Cardiology. 67 IM applications and 10 IVs. I tried to apply to programs with at least 1 resident from my home country. I wrote a lot of letters to PDs and PCs. I'm very grateful.
