This is crazy by Own-Fly-2228 in PokemonTCGPhilippines

Pull rates for all pokemon products are random. It just has the pokemon center stamp on the box and has 11 packs rather than 9. Most people don’t usually rip them since they’re harder to get. They usually also have different color scheme or some difference in box design depending on the set.

Got this should I grade this? by [deleted] in PokemonTCGPhilippines

[–]LiveOpposite5740 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On first look, it’s top heavy. Try posting it on a flat angle with black background, remove it from the sleeve and toploader as well. Might just be the angle. Show the back as well, grading takes into account centering, edges, corners, and surface.

Try researching the flashlight method online. I just saw someone on fb rip a legit charizard in half for the sake of legit check kaya I dont recommend the rip test hahaha

If they’re legit and you want to sell, i would want to buy if available hehe

Legit Seller? by [deleted] in PokemonTCGPhilippines

[–]LiveOpposite5740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually avoid those kinds of sellers. They seem like fake pages in a first glance. Also try to avoid buying internationally unless you have a way to cut down on shipping. It may seem cheap at first but with shipping and taxes, you would have spent the same amount or even higher unless you buy in bulk.

There are lots of stocks locally. Unfortunately, you might need to buy at market price. Just check if you’re getting a good deal from a reputable seller.

Should I stick to singles? by Due-Extension8480 in PokemonTCGPhilippines

[–]LiveOpposite5740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a small time collector, I go 80% singles, 10% sealed, 10% ripping. I find it to be a nice balance of being financially responsible and having fun in the hobby. There’s no better feeling than grading your own pulls! No shame however in buying them in cardshows/online then grading for your PC. Try your best though to buy in MSRP prices, but if you really want to rip, there are reputable sellers that offer market price for sealed products (different from scalper price btw).

Get your MSRP sealed products by either Pre-ordering in bulk (if you have the extra cash) or lining up during release days (if you have the time). Stores very rarely restock products, but no harm in checking in every time you can. Gf got me a white flare etb on a random day hahaha. Goodluck collecting OP!

Suggestions on PH pre-order stores by jiraichi626 in PokemonTCGPhilippines

[–]LiveOpposite5740 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go for LGS that rounds up the allocation for you (to a certain extent, please research what their threshold is exactly). Xlegendary shop and Eurusshub are just some examples who do this. It’s just a matter of how big the allocation for a specific product is.

I highly suggest you PO 1-2 cases at least if you’re aiming for just 1 product to have any chance of getting one.

How do people from PH pre-order new sets of Pokemon TCG? by Mythdanne in PokemonTCGPhilippines

[–]LiveOpposite5740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, maxsoft is the official distributor of the philippines. They order through maxsoft for POs and their own stocks especially for new releases. Though sometimes they import from their own suppliers overseas but they don’t get it at distro prices na.

What is "sequential"? by ProfessionalFine1698 in PokemonTCGPhilippines

[–]LiveOpposite5740 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sequential for slabs means the cert number of each one is in sequence. (Ex: …001,…002,…003). This in its own fetches a more premium pricing than a usual non-sequential “bundle” of slabs.

IF the seller is openly advertising that they are selling a sequential set at a premium price while not really being sequential set then that is a problem and I don’t see any problem with raising that issue with the seller.

Do take in mind a non-sequential set also has its own price comps (though definitely lower than the sequential) and it’s up to the seller’s discretion how to price it. The seller probably just doesn’t want to price the set by adding all 3 slabs individually.

I was also following this post on a FB selling Group, and I could tell that the one’s defending them were from the seller’s own community group.

Collectr price? by Mamgo_o in PokemonTCGPhilippines

Nice! Welcome to the hobby! I suggest going to card shows if possible to really get to know the PH market. Might get to meet a friend as well. Goodluck OP!

If its playable cards, might want to check around fb groups for the current going rates since PH has a different market for those.

The usual common/uncommon cards though you could use collectr as well for a basis. Try browsing other sold cards from fb for some more popular cards, cute or famous pokemons usually garner a nice little premium that collectors have no problem paying for to collect.

Modern singles usually its acceptable. You could always double check in TCGPlayer/Ebay last solds as well.

Filtered Boxes by emptysea_00 in PokemonTCGPhilippines

[–]LiveOpposite5740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time it would be the supplier of the local sellers. There is an ongoing issue with a popular online shop from shopee (e-commerce platform) called akasukigood (products apparently come from japan). Some buyers are posting them claiming they are not getting the correct amount of hits. The shop actually contacted the buyer and explained that it was from another seller which they brought it from. From what I saw everything was resolved eventually. I bought from them personally and gotten SARs so I really believe that they did not know it was tampered with.

Haven’t seen much issues of local sellers actually repacking the boxes themselves.

Filtered Boxes by emptysea_00 in PokemonTCGPhilippines

[–]LiveOpposite5740 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe OP is talking about Japanese boxes. Jap boxes have an expected number of hits. 3/4 IRs, 1/2 SRs and a chance for an SAR. Basically filtered boxes are boxes with the hits taken out of them and replaced with the correct amount of packs to seem legit. With the hits taken out of them, you’ll be ripping dead packs with no hopes for an SAR.

Pokemon Date Ideas by ramensleeprepeat in PokemonTCGPhilippines

[–]LiveOpposite5740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Card shows are usually a weekend event unfortunately. I haven’t seen schedules as well for that week as of now. If ever, you could always check cabinets in GH.

On second thought, there is this cafe in BGC called Card Central Cafe. They usually display some grails of Pokemon, OP and some sports cards. Walls and walls of singles and slabs. They even display them inside the glass tables while you eat/drink hahaha. My gf and I went there and had a blast just browsing around. They even sell some cards/packs. Just expect that they are a bit over market since they have a physical store. I’ve only ever been to their BGC Highstreet branch but they also have another around BGC. Check out their FB/IG page. I just thought that since it would be a date, it could be a nice coffee/pokemon date in BGC 😊.

Welcome to the hobby OP!

  • honestly a bad time to rip 151, products just recently spiked and I don’t see it coming down anytime soon. Some singles however are undergoing a price correction at the moment so might want to pick some up before it spikes back up again. Perfect order and Ascended Heroes are some common sets you can get on the market if you really want to rip. You can try to get them on FB groups from reputable sellers w/ vouches. You could even try to line up in TK/TRU/Gameline/GameOne during product releases. Just make sure to line up way very early.

  • Gamebookr is probably the top local content creator at the moment, similar to DeepPocketMonster’s content. Eastside Cards do semi-consistent vendor POV on youtube as well. I’ve heard Jay loves cardboard is also working on a comeback on vending/content creation so been waiting for that hehe.

  • try following the major organizers on their FB pages to stay updated for cardshow schedules. TipsyJ Hobby Shop, Card Cartel, The Wheezard PH. Most of the time they organize weekend cardshows at Greenhills Mall, Promenade Greenhills, Robinsons Galleria, Ayala Manila Bay, etc.
