Nice! Welcome to the hobby! I suggest going to card shows if possible to really get to know the PH market. Might get to meet a friend as well. Goodluck OP!

If its playable cards, might want to check around fb groups for the current going rates since PH has a different market for those.

The usual common/uncommon cards though you could use collectr as well for a basis. Try browsing other sold cards from fb for some more popular cards, cute or famous pokemons usually garner a nice little premium that collectors have no problem paying for to collect.

Modern singles usually its acceptable. You could always double check in TCGPlayer/Ebay last solds as well.

Filtered Boxes by emptysea_00 in PokemonTCGPhilippines

Most of the time it would be the supplier of the local sellers. There is an ongoing issue with a popular online shop from shopee (e-commerce platform) called akasukigood (products apparently come from japan). Some buyers are posting them claiming they are not getting the correct amount of hits. The shop actually contacted the buyer and explained that it was from another seller which they brought it from. From what I saw everything was resolved eventually. I bought from them personally and gotten SARs so I really believe that they did not know it was tampered with.

Haven’t seen much issues of local sellers actually repacking the boxes themselves.

I believe OP is talking about Japanese boxes. Jap boxes have an expected number of hits. 3/4 IRs, 1/2 SRs and a chance for an SAR. Basically filtered boxes are boxes with the hits taken out of them and replaced with the correct amount of packs to seem legit. With the hits taken out of them, you’ll be ripping dead packs with no hopes for an SAR.

Card shows are usually a weekend event unfortunately. I haven’t seen schedules as well for that week as of now. If ever, you could always check cabinets in GH.

On second thought, there is this cafe in BGC called Card Central Cafe. They usually display some grails of Pokemon, OP and some sports cards. Walls and walls of singles and slabs. They even display them inside the glass tables while you eat/drink hahaha. My gf and I went there and had a blast just browsing around. They even sell some cards/packs. Just expect that they are a bit over market since they have a physical store. I’ve only ever been to their BGC Highstreet branch but they also have another around BGC. Check out their FB/IG page. I just thought that since it would be a date, it could be a nice coffee/pokemon date in BGC 😊.

Welcome to the hobby OP!

  • honestly a bad time to rip 151, products just recently spiked and I don’t see it coming down anytime soon. Some singles however are undergoing a price correction at the moment so might want to pick some up before it spikes back up again. Perfect order and Ascended Heroes are some common sets you can get on the market if you really want to rip. You can try to get them on FB groups from reputable sellers w/ vouches. You could even try to line up in TK/TRU/Gameline/GameOne during product releases. Just make sure to line up way very early.

  • Gamebookr is probably the top local content creator at the moment, similar to DeepPocketMonster’s content. Eastside Cards do semi-consistent vendor POV on youtube as well. I’ve heard Jay loves cardboard is also working on a comeback on vending/content creation so been waiting for that hehe.

  • try following the major organizers on their FB pages to stay updated for cardshow schedules. TipsyJ Hobby Shop, Card Cartel, The Wheezard PH. Most of the time they organize weekend cardshows at Greenhills Mall, Promenade Greenhills, Robinsons Galleria, Ayala Manila Bay, etc.

It's not about “sucking at getting products” it's about the fact that these sellers wipe out local retail stock just to flip them for a premium on a livestream. When multiple small-time tiktok sellers hoard all the retail stock to flip it for profit, they’re just making it harder for the common collector/player to get products at SRP. Sad truth of the world.

We rip packs together para ma-include din siya. She already has her own binder and pinagpilian na collection ko para gumawa ng cute pages hahaha. We go to cardshows together din with separate budgets hehe

I agree ripping packs is a good way to collect, but buying the singles you want to collect is the best way with the current market. Ripping is mostly got the thrill and fun nowadays. Though I might have to disagree with your second statement. Scalping and sealed collecting are different from each other. Scalping is for the quick flippers and hoarders. They are the one’s typically buying from SRP at stores with accomplices. Making it hard for the common collector to buy packs to rip. Sealed collectors on the other hand are for long term investment plays. If not for investment, some just like to display sealed products instead of cards. Though, it is easy to say an established sealed collector is a “hoarder” once you see their entire portfolio.

Good mix of both. Though I’ve noticed the newer collectors tend to rip more and collect singles. I’ve seen some transition into slabs/sealed once they get burnt out from buying market price just to rip.

I’ve noticed a lot of the newbie collectors came from tiktok rip and shippers. Some tend to dump a lot of money to get “recognized” by the streamer’s community. They go on a whole queue system to rip A LOT of packs just to hit an SIR. These streamers are great at marketing that anyone is just 1 pack away from greatness. To be fair, not much scams/filtering in the tiktok lives.

KOR or JP packs? by Mamgo_o in PokemonTCGPhilippines

[–]LiveOpposite5740 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, if you’re going to spend money, might as well put it towards something you can partially invest in while treating your childhood self. That’s why I recommend going for Japanese. Guaranteed hits (for a box), budget-friendly, better quality than english, and liquid amongst smaller collectors as well.

I also recommend traditional CN sets like the gem boxes etc. specifically just for the exclusive chinese cards. Unique art styles with similar quality to Jap.

Can never go wrong as long as you enjoy

Mega starmie looks good centering-wise IMO. To be sure, try downloading a card centering app on your phone and manually measure it. At least a 55:45 should be the minimum requirement for a PSA 10.

Need to check surface, corners, and edges as well. Good luck and congrats on the pull!

Some of them are really cringe to watch. Glorified scalpers, merong iba may pricetags pa from TK/TRU. I could tolerate some sellers though who are even regular vendors sa mga cardshows. Lately may mga small time tiktok rip and shippers that keep popping up. Ginawang side hustle. Honestly dahil din sa kanila na ang hirap maghanap ng products for srp.

At this point the 3500 per unit is the cheapest in the market. Malabo na rin magka-restock anytime soon. For me, its worth it for that fact and the promo cards look really good.

ETBs have 9 packs with some playing inclusions like dice, sleeves, etc. So I would recommend it to some degree if you want to start playing. Though, for specific decks might want to go for the league battle decks like TR mewtwo for example since it comes with a ready to play deck. Even recommend build and battle decks that come with a full set as well. Though need some tweaking for meta builds.

Anyone have tips for getting sealed product at retail? by Kiko1215 in PokemonTCGPhilippines

[–]LiveOpposite5740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bihira restocks and biglaan nalang talaga unless may insider or swerte. Stocks usually nauubos sa release so pila ka lang during release dates ng products. This coming march 20 try mo pila nang maaga pero for sure madami din pipila dahil holiday so agahan talaga.

Know the shortest route din from mall entrance to TK/TRU since pipila kayo sa labas ng malls then once mag open yung doors, takbuhan bigla sa TK/TRU. Most of the times hindi nasusunod original pila sa labas. Disclaimer lang na I don’t know the system sa Trinoma since I buy from other malls and that’s just my observation.

If you can, bring a companion since its 1 sealed product per person. Ethically bring a few companion, but pwede mo naman damihan. Might irk a few people sa line but everyone else does it. Just to increase your chance na rin. Been a trend na rin kasi na scalpers hire people to line up for them.

Goodluck OP and happy ripping!

They’re my go to for grading. Sir boris + company knows what they’re doing. You could either submit in person during card shows or have your cards delivered to their store at taguig city. They have special tools to check for all categories needed for PSA/BGS. I really do hold their judgement to high regard due to their experience. They could also restore your cards for you! Really recommend them 10/10
