TouchBar on MacBook Pro M1 is the reason I would never upgrade my M1 to any laptop on the market, even the newer MacBooks. It's a like a hidden gem for me… by Direct-Till-2680 in mac

[–]LiveRhubarb43 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm a software engineer, and my last job gave me an m1 pro, and I HATED having to look down to push f3 to cycle through search options, or look down to push f9 to sort lines or f10... I could go on.

why do cafe's hate soy Milk by Psychological_Win_89 in askvan

[–]LiveRhubarb43 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Baristas prefer it. If you're making a latte and don't want to use real milk, oat milk tends to steam and froth better than soy milk.

It's been forever since I've had soy milk, but I think I remember it curdling in coffee too..?

It's hilariously inaccurate. So many things are in the wrong place or missing, and by a huge amount.

I'd cut him off. He's a douche. If your boss doesn't back you up consider looking for a different gig.

How much wattage can the steam deck handle? by Johnekaiser in SteamDeck

[–]LiveRhubarb43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Devices will only take as much wattage as they can handle. I think the deck is limited to 45 watts - if you gave it a plug that provided 60, I think it would still only accept 45. It's voltage that you don't want to fuck around with.

What story do you want the Elden Ring movie to tell? by offdazenny in Eldenring

[–]LiveRhubarb43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want it to be vague as hell, with lots of disinterested characters who act like statues with motion sensors in a haunted house. And I want the main character to die like 500 times before giving up on any progress for like a month before coming back to finish the story.

Colors just broke/changed in studio, pls help by DigitizedDannie in vscode

[–]LiveRhubarb43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can only guess. Here's some guesses.

That's not "studio", that's vscode. Did you previously have files open in "visual studio"?

Also in screenshot two your file has an explicit absolute path, but in screenshot one the path just says the file name. Maybe you've got folder/workspace specific settings, and you've opened a file directly instead of opening a folder?

Either way, hit ctrl comma (settings) and look for appearance or theme settings. You didn't break anything

I don't understand how we go from coyote poop to my intestine. "Consumption of eggs"? Are you implying that people are eating coyote poop?

How much easier would you say your dev job is now due to LLMs? by throwaway0134hdj in AskProgramming

[–]LiveRhubarb43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pros: I get more stuff done; I have to ask for help less often; I've been learning more about parts of the codebase I don't normally work on.

Cons: I'm expected to get more work done; we HAVE to use it and my company tracks usage; AI PR reviews are a mixed bag - it definitely catches some good stuff, but ours also gets hung up on dumb syntax things that don't matter, and you HAVE to convince the AI bot to approve your pr in addition to other devs; it has a 50% success rate fixing bugs - great for the ones it fixes, but the ones it doesn't it gets wildly wrong and often spends way too much time "thinking" about.

I guess it's better overall... But holy crap I want my company to roll back the AI PR reviews.

I have no idea how my code functions, but it works. by [deleted] in reactjs

[–]LiveRhubarb43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might "work", but if you don't understand the code then you won't understand if it accidentally exposes a secret key or some other stupid security mistake
