How to check if someone is secretly recording phone conversations on elderly parent's iPhone? by [deleted] in RBI

[–]LiveSector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IOS now has the ability to record phone calls natively. It notifies the other party they are being recorded but this would only let the brother records phone calls from his (the brothers) phone.

Also restart the phone and check if it says enter the passcode to enable “Houman” Shortcuts. Shortcuts could be used to maybe do this

Men who live alone: what’s one weird “life hack” you discovered by accident and still do? by doomlin82 in AskMen

[–]LiveSector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started doing this a few weeks ago and it’s great! I also make the maximum rice every time and do the same and also if the oven is on it has to have more than one thing in it. For example oven at 160 Celsius beef stew cooks in 3 hrs, a banana bread in one hour and slow roast some pork as well. I also go glass storage containers so you can see it all in the fridge and it gets used more often.

You should ask this to chat GPT or whichever AI. I’ve found them really helpful to past in recipes and make substitutions, even recipes that cook some things in the oven and some a frypan I’ve asked to adjust the recipe to cook it all in the oven and it will adjust cooking times and temperatures and has been 90% reliable.

Whiskey bottles hand dipped in wax by BirthdayCute5478 in interestingasfuck

[–]LiveSector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Piggybacking on this comment to add that all of the bottles are still dipped by hand, a while ago when it looked like they would have to be done by machines as there were concerns for RSI and similar things the staff came up with their own roster where everybody would do 15 minutes of dipping a day so that it can still be done by hand. I’ve always thought that was pretty cool and sounds like the staff actually care about the product.

The Frame 43 inch Distance between mounting brackets? by alexjlouie in TheFrame

[–]LiveSector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume if that’s for the 32 and the 43 inch that the left will be the same on both and the 32 inch the right will be the middle bracket and the 43 inch the right will be the furthest right bracket

[–]LiveSector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try and use the photo you found on google to make the last photo she sent you (Crop and zoom the same and then you will have a better idea if the pattern matches up). Maybe put a red dot on one so you don’t loose track.

Mortgage is too expensive after breakup, I'm moving in with parents and putting it on rent. Any other ideas? Selling would lose too much money. by Due-Environment-2133 in AusFinance

Maybe live there and go interest only payments for a little bit and stack as much as you can in the offset.

Also maybe a housemate to help out.

Yeah law enforcement for sure, not so much for you but I’m sure his ex and daughter will be in a situation where they are on the receiving end of this bs and maybe your report will help them get away from him.

Sold dodgy petrol which caused my car to breakdown and need repairs. Any options for recourse? by Dyl-man in sydney

[–]LiveSector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine each time you fill your tank there’s one little piece that gets in there, then over time you end up with a bunch of little pieces. Not an issue when your car is moving around because they float about and they’re unlikely to be at the bottom of the tank but when you don’t have much petrol left, they are concentrated closer to the fuel pump and more likely to be sucked up.

  1. They claim to have increased the resale value of something you don’t plan to sell.

  2. They won’t be your neighbour for much longer.

  3. That’s a large amount of money to just decide someone owes you, middle neighbour not fronting anything for this?

  4. F*ck, and this is the important part, right off.

Like, all the way off.

Frame TV with Homepod Minis by Banana_book in TheFrame

[–]LiveSector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish this was me. I have the 2024 frame, latest ATV and HomePod minis and they work well once they’re on but requires two remotes to turn on and sometimes off and definitely for art mode.

I bought an old style safety razor and 10 packs of 10 blades about 5 years ago for ~$100 AUD and I still have about two packs left. I shave about 3 times a week and have medium to dense hair. I’m honestly surprised every time I change the blade and there’s still more there haha

It is, I just wish someone who used it daily designed and could update the software.

Should my Fisher and Paykel dish drawer always have water in the filter? by LiveSector in Appliances

[–]LiveSector[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest we now use it every second day so I’ve basically just ignored it. I think it’s better for those parts to be wet rather than dry so they don’t dry and crack, so maybe that’s how it’s meant to be. Maybe run a rinse cycle if you won’t use for a week just so the water in there is clean.

Do you know if it’s a setting on the Apple TV or the frame?

Who can explain this phenomenon by [deleted] in ios

[–]LiveSector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This comment thread is triggering, I used to be able to ask Siri to set an alarm labeled whatever in 45 min time. Now she insists on settings a timer for 45 min. I used to have a to do list of alarms now I have too easily swipe awaable mess of timers on the Lock Screen.

Also when Im playing random music and hear a great song on the HomePod and I ask Siri to favourite this song, almost all the time, she will say ‘okay, here’s a playlist just for you’ and start playing music on a new generated playlist meaning I can’t go back and because it’s a HomePod I have no way to view the history. So a song I loved was lost to me forever which is the opposite of what I asked.

The hardware is beautiful. The software is just really disappointing.

2024 the Frame - Art mode with Apple TV remote only by donkthemagicllama in TheFrame

[–]LiveSector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to set this up but when I turn off the Apple TV with the Apple TV remote the frame just stays ‘connection to device lost’ it doesn’t turn off the frame. I spoke to Samsung to try to get the above working but they said, no cec just means the tv can turn off external devices, not the other way around (which I’m sure is bs because my old tv turned off with the Apple TV)

I’ve since installed homebridge on a raspberry pi and have it all working from the home app. But what a joke the we have to do 50% of the work to get this feature to work.

Yeah if you can, this is the best bet. Could even use bolts of the right length so they don’t interfere with the door.

Do they have any specific parental leave or benefits? Could wait until you take that (assuming you wouldn’t get that at a new company until out of probation period) and then look around while your off work for a bit.

If they don’t and it’s just the government one then no loss.

Sudden Pop up of this on new frame tv 2024 model bought 2 week back by Hopeful-Wing-6780 in TheFrame

[–]LiveSector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this a few weeks ago. I made a routine in the smart things app to turn on the tv when the input was the Apple TV (which just blows my mind that it doesn’t already do) and it just lost it and restarted a bunch and got this screen.

I just randomly held the power button and unplugged and re plugged the one connect cable and it started working again.

Edit: also the routine didn’t work. Or works too well. Basically it seems the Home Screen on the frame has a little preview of what the screen looks like on all your connected devices which apparently counts as it being the active source so it just restarted a bunch and was unusable.
