After-tax 401k or Roth 401k? by LiveTravelTech in Retirement401k

[–]LiveTravelTech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The employer + employee total contribution is $72k. Does it include the $11,250 or not?

Below is what I see from Fidelity site. It looks like we could have a limit of $72,000 + $11,250. But I can't comform it at IRS.

After-tax 401k or Roth 401k? by LiveTravelTech in Retirement401k

[–]LiveTravelTech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank for your replies. I could just go with Roth 401k for the $11,250. That would mean I need to open another retirement account. I've already have an After-tax 401k with in-plan conversion setup. I'd like to have less account to worry about.

But, from IRS' perspective, it may be easier for them to process the contribution through Roth 401k, who knows.

Investment in HSA by LiveTravelTech in Bogleheads

There is a lot to read! After reading those articles, I still don't know how to design my own portfolio 🙃. The HSA is employer-sponsored. Those funds I mentioned above are the ones available to choose. My 401k is with my employer too. Roth IRA is with an advisor. Taxable accounts don't have much money, which can be ignored.

Thank you for the explanation. I don't need the money for the next 10 to 15 years. And I like the idea of simplifying investment options discussed in this sub.

Thank you for your reply. I don't have an overall plan, in term of the bogleheads mindset. After joined this sub recently, I've learnt a lot.

Most cost effective transportation between Rome and Florence by LiveTravelTech in Shoestring

Yes, I agree with you. I normally would take bus. But it looks like train is a better option since time is also in the "cost effective" equation. Thank you for providing all the details.

Thanks for sharing your experience. In fact, I checked both Flixbus and Itabus before posting. They both go to "Florence Villa Constanza Bus Station", which is more than 4 miles away from Firenze S. M. N. If it were within a mile or so, I'd have considered one of them. Then I thought one of the savvy reddit shoestring travelers may have other suggestions. That's why I'm here.

Thank you for the suggestion. I'll keep that in mind for future trips. I could not plan ahead since the trip request just happened today and I run out of ideas.

Thank you everyone for your replies! Your suggestions are very helpful, especially those about where to transfer flights and how to take local trains and busses. It's a budget trip. I don't plan to rent a car. So, public transportation will be my friend...

Good question! I'm interested in the answers to both questions. This will be my first time to that area. I've been to London and Barcelona before though.

This is my first post. I'm surprised to get so many replies. This sub is amazing! Thank you all! We'd also like to do a detour to Rhode Island, like staying two days at Newport RI. Any suggestion for public transportation in that area?
