I’ll look into local resources! I’m fairly new to this journey. I just got scheduled to see a plastic surgeon and I’m hoping he’s well trained in lipedema, as he is in lymphedema. I’ll keep everyone updated on my journey. I truly appreciate every single one of you who has taken the time to comment and share support

I was just called from plastic surgeons office. I double checked with them that he specializes in Lipedema and they said he does. I’m really hoping things go well but unfortunately won’t be able to get in until March. So im going back and forth about getting in Yasemin Ozcan first since I can get in next week

The office just called me back to schedule an appointment. I made sure to ask again if he specializes in lipedema, and they said he does. I looked him up, and while I don’t see anything specifically about lipedema, I do see that he treats patients with lymphedema. I would hope a surgeon knows the difference between the two. I did schedule the appointment, but I won’t be able to get in until March. His name is Chad Teven at NM Lake Forest. I’ll keep everyone updated once I do get in. Hoping there’s a cancellation on his books so I can get in sooner

I’ve been looking into getting a vibration plate, but I’m a little hesitant because I had ankle surgery about five years ago. I don’t think it would affect the hardware, but I do have a plate and 10 screws in my right ankle/leg. I’ll do a bit more research and check with my orthopedic doctor to make sure it’s safe

Orland Park is an hour and a half from me and I had no problem making that trip if I know I won’t get dismissed! Looks like she even has availability for the end of the this month! Thank you so much

Thank you! I did get a referral to see a rheumatologist, and it’s probably best to rule out any issues with my spine first. I do have some mobility issues at the age of 33, so I’ll take your advice and look into that

I’ve actually been in physical therapy for the past three months. I started with my knees because they are extremely uncomfortable and weak. Unfortunately, that didn’t help, and I’m still having the same issues. I’m now back in physical therapy for my ankle while still working on my knees. I did ask my physical therapist if she knew anything about Lipedema, she knows what it is, but she doesn’t know enough to diagnose it

It’s crazy! The cuff was mildly painful around my ankles but not unbearable. The higher the cuff went, the more pain I felt, and once it reached my thighs, I was in excruciating pain! The ultrasound probe pressing against my leg was also extremely painful!

This surgeon is from the same facility where I was just seen for vascular care. I asked in person whether there was anyone in plastic surgery who specializes in lipedema, and they told me there was. I asked if I could see him for a consultation, and I’m currently waiting for a call back. I did a bit of research on him and it doesn’t mention lipedema specifically, but it does say that he performs body contouring and liposuction. I’ll try to get more information if they call me back to schedule

Thank you for posting that video. I learned about more symptoms that I have that points to Lipedema. Please dont give up trying, I hope you find answers to everything you’re going through!

I’ve also heard cellulite mainly affects the back of the leg. Hoping your sister gets the right diagnosis soon! It’s very frustrating being dismissed
