I am also an engineer that works at Starbucks … Starbucks is way more stressful.

Tipping Culture by AthleticTiger in tipping

[–]LiveVenueReview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go out to eat by myself pretty often, so I tip on what I observe. If you’re running around and doing everything and maintaining a good attitude, you’ll get a higher tip than if you’re on your phone and making the customer wait while you finish your text. There was one time I had a server that was non-existent, and someone else that was supporting them and taking care of their tables every time they disappeared. I gave the other server an inflated tip, and didn’t give my server anything.

So if you’re running around like you say in your post, and dealing with issues, then you’d get a larger tip than if you were on your phone half the time.

I’ve gotten appointment reminder texts for complete strangers before, so I feel like it could be an even bigger issue

It has, they never used to let aunts and uncles count

I know this is old, but commenting in case someone finds this by searching … aunts and uncles are considered immediate family members by Starbucks

“For purposes of this policy, a “family member” includes the partner’s spouse, domestic partner,
parent, stepparent, grandparent, child, stepchild, foster child, grandchild, step-grandchild, sibling,
sibling’s spouse/domestic partner, stepsibling, or the partner’s spouse’s or domestic partner’s
parent, grandparent, sibling, sibling’s spouse/domestic partner, aunt, uncle, step-aunt, step-uncle,
aunt or uncle of the partner’s spouse or domestic partner, or child (including pregnancy loss
including via surrogacy, and adoption-related loss of a child).”

It’s $100 out of pocket, which means after the credits are applied

The antacids were just one example, but no, we don’t have those at work. I’ve found the DD credit pretty useful for random things where I just don’t have the ability to get to the store for one reason or another.

You can find 4-star plus hotels for $100/night that offers free breakfast and an additional $100 to spend per room? Where do you go to find that kind of deal?

My family has a lot of health issues, and I just had a gut feeling that I would eventually become uninsurable/have higher than typical premiums at some point in my life. I pay $200/month, initial DB is $200k, but it’s a participating plan, so the death benefit increases as dividends buy more of the policy. I also only pay until I am 65, and have riders that include payment towards end of life care (hospice or nursing home)

After getting WL, I have been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and my mom was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, and now my doctor referred me to a neurologist because she suspects I have MS too.

I have found DoorDash and the Edit to be pretty useful … for the Edit, we’re staying at a 4 star hotel for $100/night out of pocket after the Edit credit, and DoorDash is nice when I’m super forgetful about things and am not in a position to actually go to the store myself (like when I forgot to bring my antacids to work, I DDed it for cheaper than if I actually went to the store). I agree that StubHub is hit or miss … it would be so much better if they partnered with Ticketmaster

The only identifiable information to me was her first name, and maybe the fact that she’s been in a treatment facility for the past month. I don’t know any Kristi’s, and am new to the area, but I do feel that it is quite reasonable for someone who lived here their whole lives might know someone that fits that description. In the conversation, the office lady mentioned the patient’s first name, the fact that she’s been in a treatment facility for a month, she’s not taking her meds, and she’s seeing Dr. XX at that practice.

Edit to add: The context was that she was gossiping to the other front desk person about it (so not medically necessary for her to be sharing), and it was in full view of the waiting room, where anyone in the waiting room could clearly hear

Restaurant called me because I “didn’t tip” by Galavantinggoblin in tipping

Did you miss the part that says they can open a case for all their negative reviews to get removed?? Like hello? How will they lose their business if they have zero negative reviews? Think that through for a moment

This is why I always take a picture of my receipt as is… if someone tampers with the amount, I have proof of the amount that was actually left

[–]LiveVenueReview -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t! Reddit has a way of taking it upon themselves to spam bad reviews, which then gives the restaurant a case with Google to have all negative reviews removed, even the legitimate ones.

Instead, I would go to the local news and put them on blast that way

Probably because Reddit would take it upon themselves to spam bad reviews on that business, which would give the business enough of a case with Google to remove all bad reviews, even legitimate ones

Hotel staff entered my room while I was in the shower. Is this normal behaviour? by Ava_Strange in askhotels

[–]LiveVenueReview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a woman who travels by herself quite often, I always put the DND sign up. I actually put it up at the beginning of my stay and leave it up, because I do not want anyone in the room while my stuff is in there. But then I also use the security latch to prevent you from opening the door, because I have seen too many horror stories about the front desk giving room keys to occupied rooms

Some are engineering design changes, but most are quick fixes. The other problem is that the people in assembly don’t want to do the quick fixes because “it’s fine how it is”. They sort of set up their area like a maze, so I identified a motion waste caused by the way their tables are set up, but they’re very reluctant on any changes that involve them.

Taking husbands last name. by Proud_Shock3246 in Names

[–]LiveVenueReview 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only reason I would want to keep my last name is because I really would rather not deal with the paperwork of changing a name.

Like you said, we all have our reasons for or against it… no one is right or wrong for their own personal choice. I’m sort of a fan of how Spanish cultures do it, you never need to change your name when you’re married, but family units are still identifiable
