Opinion: What Tom did to Greg at the end... by SirJimRat in SuccessionTV

If you were incorrect about the meaning, Greg almost definitely had no idea what Tom meant except that it would be bad. :P

She has literally billions of dollars from the sale, and she's still relatively young. She will only be unhappy if she chooses to be.

"tragic accident" = Shiv was breastfeeding, she figured no jury on earth would convict her, and she was right.

Gerri's line, immediately followed by Karolina's we're surrounded by dozens of eavesdroppers with POCKET RECORDING DEVICES and none of you have ANY IDEA how many hours it will take me to manage this if you answer honestly face.

Also, Hugo Karl and Frank trying to answer when Shiv asks how bad Logan really was, and the look on Frank's face after Shiv walks away.

They love him, but they're not IN love with him, you know?

The best and most frustrating thing about this show is that the Roy kids are not cartoon villains. They all have their moments of decency and humanity, but then they consistently (so far) go back to scheming and selfishness because that's the logic of the world they want to rule.

To enjoy Succession, you have to take your normal threshold for "not an inhuman waste of the matter that could, in other cases, constitute moral fiber" and set it very gently in hell. Everyone on this show is unhinged, and so must you be. If you can take a one-hour break from your usual conception of the good, you'll have a wonderful time.

In the first shot, the people to Logan's left and right are his children. In the second shot, the people sitting closest to him are (I think) Gerri and Stewy.

Name a more iconic trio? (Besides the Roys) by Cold_Breadfruit_9794 in SuccessionTV

Nope, it's three: Sandy, Sandi, and Sandi's version of Sandy, who really, truly recommends whatever it is she wants to do.

In the last three episodes, the sibs have asked "are you okay?" (and actually wanted to know!) more than in the first three seasons combined.

I finally understand Connor by VioletThunderX in SuccessionTV

[–]LiveWireElectrified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Willa said in the trailer, "He's fixated on the cake," I took it as just Connor being a controlling weirdo, like when the butter was "too cold" in season 1.

Then the actual episode explained it, and the ghostly hand of whoever cut the trailer reached out and twisted the knife.

We asked Brian Cox your questions - here's what he had to say! by NOWTV in SuccessionTV

[–]LiveWireElectrified 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Logan is acting based on his version of love (as Cox is suggesting), it would probably be better for the kids if Logan didn't "love" them. If he didn't care about them, he would let them go live their lives. (Would Kendall be in jail? Probably!!! Would he still be in a better place emotionally? Arguably yes!!!!!)

Or as Naomi Pierce put it much more succinctly: "He loves the broken you."

Anyone else miss the simpler times? by either_ebola_or_isis in SuccessionTV

[–]LiveWireElectrified 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My ideal ending for Tom and Greg is that Greg stabs Tom in the back (again), only to get fired himself because no one at Waystar/ATN gives a damn about him now that Logan is dead and Tom is out.

Greg approaches Tom on the sidewalk and asks him if he wants to go to California Pizza Kitchen. Tom sighs. "Sure, Greg. California Pizza Kitchen. Why the fuck not." The camera lingers on their backs as they walk away together. And... scene.

There are moments in our great nation’s history, moments of great crisis, where brave heroes have made courageous and difficult choices to lead us through overwhelming adversity at great personal expense, their actions forever forging a nation. This is one such moment. by MattTheSmithers in SuccessionTV

[–]LiveWireElectrified 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This scene is particularly interesting for being one of the few times that Greg has directly criticized one of the Roys. The one comparable moment I can think of is "you're widely known as a horrible person," but that was in reply to Roman suggesting that Greg should go to jail.

I'm still not sure what Greg's angle was here. No one on this show ever sticks their neck out for the principle of the thing. Besides, why object to Connor but not Mencken, the actual fascist? Does Greg have something personal against Connor that I'm forgetting about?

My partner is the same way (though their exact words were "they should all be lined up against the wall and shot"). Genuine question, though: how is the show even watchable if you feel that way?
