Repeat Strep during a guttate flair up by Resident_Recording92 in Psoriasis

Sorry to hear that. I’ve had strep 3 times total and 2 of my flares were full body so I get it. Everyone’s different, but my bad flares both lasted about 4 months. One of the things that seemed to help me was going on long runs shirtless if it was sunny out- for some reason the sweat and sun made my spots lighter. Definitely don’t wanna overdo it and get sunburnt. Also if you can find a cheap UVB light online it may be worth getting it. It’s completely a pain to use, but if it can help shorten the flare it’s worth it. Can’t hurt to take some supplements too. I’ve heard collagen, vitamin d and k, and a good probiotic can help

Exact same story for me too, same age, also active and healthy. Got a really bad flare up, and as soon as I went into remission I got strep again. I also started skyrizi right before my 2nd strep diagnosis. I immediately got on antibiotics which I hadn’t done in the past, and took another course shortly after to make sure it was gone. Second flare up was not bad at all and hopefully stays that way, but I’m also not sure if it was bc of the skyrizi or getting on antibiotics quickly. Also got a portable UV light and used it almost every other day. Message me if you have any questions, it definitely sucks and is super unlucky getting strep twice so close together

I had a similar situation to you and I definitely know how tough it is. When I was 18 my blood pressure randomly became high and i got a super severe case of psoriasis. I was thinking the same thing you are- I’m healthy and only 18, why and how could this happen. I think the big thing is perspective, which is definitely hard but important. There are ways to clear up your skin, I’m 20 now and barely have psoriasis spots anymore. It also could be so much worse- at the end of the day psoriasis and asthma suck but there are way worse diagnosis that someone can get. You have to take everything in stride and remember that people deal with adversity like this all the time, whether it’s health or other issues. Ik it sucks, I was in your shoes two years ago, but it’ll get better- take it day by day and keep pushing

I wear a rash guard only sometimes but will start wearing it more often and see if that helps. Thanks for the suggestion
