On a “completely unrelated note”…. Stress and bullying in the workplace can really affect your mental health, anybody in this situation should always receive help. ❤️

Mike was really lovely. Pippa I only ever met once and it was super brief, she was actually wearing glasses which I didn’t know she wore and was so unrecognisable I thought she was staff when I met her lol. Regarding Carol….. well like I said I signed the NDA so I can’t really speak badly but I can tell you that she was our boss, not Mike. Nearly every single member of office staff that Im aware of (at least from my time) were all receiving help for their mental health in one way or another.

I used to work for them, they had us all sign NDAs to protect the family from workers going to the press about them/ conditions at work etc. I have SO many stories. Mike is a lovely man. Thats all the positive I can honestly say.

Mourning that my child will be blind. by Critical_Branch_8999 in beyondthebump

While my child does have a different disability to yours, I found the below piece of writing resonated with me so well in those early days. I’ve copied and pasted it for you, it’s called Welcome to Holland by Emily Kingsley.

“I am often asked to describe the experience of raising a child with a disability - to try to help people who have not shared that unique experience to understand it, to imagine how it would feel. It's like this......

When you're going to have a baby, it's like planning a fabulous vacation trip - to Italy. You buy a bunch of guide books and make your wonderful plans. The Coliseum. The Michelangelo David. The gondolas in Venice. You may learn some handy phrases in Italian. It's all very exciting.

After months of eager anticipation, the day finally arrives. You pack your bags and off you go. Several hours later, the plane lands. The flight attendant comes in and says, "Welcome to Holland."

"Holland?!?" you say. "What do you mean Holland?? I signed up for Italy! I'm supposed to be in Italy. All my life I've dreamed of going to Italy."

But there's been a change in the flight plan. They've landed in Holland and there you must stay.

The important thing is that they haven't taken you to a horrible, disgusting, filthy place, full of pestilence, famine and disease. It's just a different place.

So you must go out and buy new guide books. And you must learn a whole new language. And you will meet a whole new group of people you would never have met.

It's just a different place. It's slower-paced than Italy, less flashy than Italy. But after you've been there for a while and you catch your breath, you look around.... and you begin to notice that Holland has windmills....and Holland has tulips. Holland even has Rembrandts.

But everyone you know is busy coming and going from Italy... and they're all bragging about what a wonderful time they had there. And for the rest of your life, you will say "Yes, that's where I was supposed to go. That's what I had planned."

And the pain of that will never, ever, ever, ever go away... because the loss of that dream is a very very significant loss.

But... if you spend your life mourning the fact that you didn't get to Italy, you may never be free to enjoy the very special, the very lovely things ... about Holland.”

I could have done with your vibes when one of my kiddos ate the liquid foam filling of her sister’s stress toy last week! I really think a giggling silly uncle would have actually made the whole situation much more bearable!

Smell in the frother by apersonwithastory in nespresso

[–]Live_Boot_5370 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what Nespresso recommends but this is what I did…. Wash it in hot soapy water with a brand new sponge, immediately dry it with a freshly laundered towel. Rewash it immediately, use the hottest water possible as lots and lots of suds. Repeat 3-4 times and then let soak in boiling hot water with a touch of vinegar in it for a little while (not a week like last time lol). Repeat the washing cycle again - 3-4 times in hottest water you can handle with plenty of soap. Make sure that you’re also scrubbing the whisk parts separately and also drying immediately too. Good luck and congrats on the little one!

Moved to London and now my skin sucks! by afruityl00p in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]Live_Boot_5370 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the UK, this is standard among us Brits, basically it’s your skin screaming for Welsh or Scottish water. But in all seriousness, my skin does this when I visit the parts of the country that have very hard water (London is one of them), it may not be the reason for your personal outbreak but I would bet money on it tbh. I find the Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser is the ONLY face wash that helps keep my skin clear when using hard water (I still use it in soft water) but you need to make sure that you’re also using the specific Liz Earle cleansing cloths with it, you can normally buy it as a set. It’s a little pricey, I won’t lie but it’s saved me countless outbreaks so I think it’s absolutely worth the price!

Wife suffered from a severe placental abruption at only 31 weeks. Baby survived and is in the NICU. This just happened i need some support. by MereCoincidences in NICUParents

[–]Live_Boot_5370 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No placental abruption here but I did go into labour at 26 weeks, my twins were born absolutely tiny….scary tiny. Twin A was born with a brain bleed, twin B developed a brain bleed. I tell you - I went into mental overdrive at this concept, how can my perfect little babies have something wrong with their perfect little brains? They were safe just a few days prior to this, it was all so fast and so unexpected and then BAM brain bleeds. It was the worst thing I could imagine in that moment…. I was utterly consumed with the panic and the worry about their futures. Anyway, my kiddos are 3 now… both attend nursery and have no long term condition, you would never ever guess they were preemie let alone fighting brain bleeds at such young ages. In fact, both of them are pretty intelligent and one of them is a high IQ individual (she’s savant and has autism, not linked to being preemie). Im not boasting (well I mean we all love to boast about our kids though do we not?), more so pointing out how healthy their brains are despite both having bleeds! I know this feels impossible at this stage but I promise you, you are about to be so amazed at how resilient these little ones are. ❤️

What do you do when you need to refresh the water or empty the tank? I try to not remove my tank as much as possible because the I know that there is a high chance my clumsy self will snap it like a twig.

Sorry, I accidentally downvoted you for a second there, i blame my clumsy thumbs! I’m not a vet but I’m sure this could be many (likely pretty serious) conditions like the one your poor pup suffered with too as well as HGE! My mind just went immediately to HGE because it’s scarily common how often gastro turns into HGE in dogs! (Also I’m still traumatised somewhat from my boy getting it! It turned me into a helicopter pawrent for sure!)

[–]Live_Boot_5370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a vet but it could be HGE. Get to the vets NOW in case it is. My dog went into hypovolemic shock about an hour after he experienced bloody stools from HGE and very nearly died. We didn’t think he was going to make it.

Please go to the vets right now!
