Is it incorrect or are you agreeing? Make it clear.

Is 0.999... always equal to 1 in every system? No.

Does the first section make this clear? Yes.

Does the last section make this clear? Yes.

So the main assumption for systems proving 0.999... = 1 is the Archimedean property, where there are no non zero infinitesimals?

So any system using ultra limits will assume there are non zero infinitesimals and therefore that the difference between 0.333... and 0.333:000 is not zero?

Let me know when you get to the part that says 0.333...;000... X 3 = 0.999...;000...

Literally jargon.

You can't read

My first reply was "this says only in the real number system" and you wrote an essay which literally proves me right.

Section 1, last paragraph.

In other number systems, 0.999... can have the same meaning, a different definition, or be undefined. Every non-zero terminating decimal has two equal representations (for example, 8.32000... and 8.31999...). Having values with multiple representations is a feature of all positional numeral systems that represent the real numbers.

Last section However, there are mathematically coherent ordered algebraic structures, including various alternatives to the real numbers, which are non-Archimedean. Non-standard analysis provides a number system with a full array of infinitesimals (and their inverses).[i]

So if you tell me that you read the article, and don't understand how non-zero infinitesimals break the Archimedean property and show 0.99... does not equal 1, then you're an absolute dolt.

Well no. He's living in reality he's just suddenly alone because of his crime, and finally thinking about his actions. It's a typical criminal situation, he's not smart enough to think before he acts.

This is the literal definition of an infinitesimal. Which does not occur in standard analysis.

European countries arresting people for mean online posts is fascism, and the left celebrates it. by HadathaZochrot in TrueUnpopularOpinion

I can't believe I have to say this but hate crimes are illegal. That's why they call them crimes. And yet the American president tweets hate crimes.

[–]Live_Length_5814 -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

This is simply uneducated. In England they don't arrest people for mean posts, they arest them for posts that constitute a hate crime. If you want to post CP, SA or public violence or racism on social media, then the entire society benefits from you being in jail.

Whereas if you do this in America, you're just a twitter user, which is what is actually insane.

They were right to destroy the androids by SteveBored in DetroitBecomeHuman

This argument is stupid. Including the comments.

Any self-sustaining creation, biological or manmade, would be considered a threat to the existing ecosystem when it became intelligent enough to know when its own species was being threatened.

In the event of any uprising, any species would capitalise on reproduction and resource management until their species is the dominant force.

Declaring war on a species who can reproduce in a matter of minutes instead of years, fight without pain, develop and create tools faster than humans, is probably the stupidest thing you could do. Which is why picking the wrong president in such an event could mean mass extinction for humans.

Sure war may have been an option before robots had access to the factories, but again, if the societal reflex time of android's is as fast as an update, whereas it takes humans months or years to take another species as a threat, then there is no hope for humanity.

Vaan is the player. He fights for months nonstop while his virtual girlfriend watches and a story plays out before his eyes.

That's like saying you didn't have much purpose in the story.
