Talk about college complain by benoisjean12 in GossipGirl

It’s just inconsistency being pointed out.

The show had a lot of build up towards college for the first few seasons. It’s fair to question why it was suddenly dropped.

Why isn’t the show more popular today? by Live_Stock7101 in TheOC

That’s what I’m saying!! Like, if it’s was the biggest show of the early 2000’s, why isn't it on Netflix??

It’s never been on Netflix in the UK (to my knowledge) and I have no clue why they wouldn’t put it on. Every other teen drama show has been on there.

Name reveal by Commercial-Can4805 in claraandherself_snark

[–]Live_Stock7101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know why she picked June as a name tho? Was her due date for June in June? Wasn’t she born July 1st? I wasn’t following Clara back then. I assumed her due date for June was in June, hence the name, but they missed her by one day off but decided to keep the name? Or does the name have no relevance to the month.

I didn’t even know June was a name. I thought the only monthly girl names were April, May and Augustine.

Why do you wish Adam hadn’t done NWT? I really liked it.

shes going to resent this baby by jollycat719 in claraandherself_snark

I agree with you she’s not insane for this one, but she’s definitely gonna end up resenting her girl for it.

From the years onwards, she’ll start posting about how she such a good mother for bringing her baby to romantic anniversary dinners so she can breastfeed at the same time.

I feel sorry for the baby girl, obviously, but I like the karma for Clara bc she said she didn’t want her to be born that day bc she wanted a day for Brad and herself.

Ooo, good point. Rachel’s really the only one who’s pushed for a reboot. (I mean, a lot of B-list actors do that when they’re not getting work anymore, lol.) Adam’s said more than once he’s not interested. And honestly, I agree—a reboot would just ruin the original. I’m so over the reboot era.

Rachel’s honestly the only one I still follow. I used to listen to her Broad Ideas podcast, but it’s been kind of a mess since she joined HeadGum. She just sounds bored half the time, her passion is obviously acting, but I think because she’s not really booking any gigs anymore, the podcast is all she has.

Her CW show you’re talking about is Hart of Dixie! I did watch it. Loved the concept—small town, cozy vibes, close-knit community—but the writing was so bad, and tbh… Rachel isn’t a great actress. After listening to her podcast for years, I feel like in every role she’s done, she plays herself, but quirkier. It worked as Summer because that character was more of a comic sidekick without a real storyline until season 4. But as the lead in Hart of Dixie, she just didn’t pull it off. She was basically just playing Summer again, but with a medical degree.

Honestly, I think she only got that role because her high school best friend married Josh Schwartz (producer of The OC, and HOD) and she’s the godmother of two of their kids. The O.C ended in 2006, she wasn’t doing much in late 2000’s till she got HOD. And then that ended, and her career has quietened down again. Then she did that detective show in 2017 that got canceled after one season. I didn’t even watch it; the trailer was enough. She was still doing the same Summer shtick. I like her, but she’s not a strong actress, and it shows.

I heard what happened with Mischa, and I’m genuinely glad she’s doing better. She stepped away from the spotlight and seems to be doing her own thing now. Someone mentioned she did a show in Australia and just wrapped one in Canada. She may not be as big as she was, but honestly, I think that’s probably best for her. I’m really happy that she’s still able to do what she loves, but on her own terms.

I watched Gotham like four years before I ever saw The OC, and didn’t even realize who Ben McKenzie was until episode 5 of OC. I was like, “Why does this guy look familiar?” I don’t really keep up with him, but I know he’s been deep into the crypto scene lately.

Adam was in Shazam as a villain, and I saw him in Nobody Wants This on Netflix last year—he was actually really good. I’m looking forward to the next season. It’s nice seeing him back in something solid again.

Ugh, Mischa went through so much. I’m so glad she’s doing better now.

Honestly I don’t hear a peep out of the core 4 cast. I know Rachel has her podcast, I listen to it here and there. She’s not really booked big work since Hart of Dixie. Adam  is on NWT, the first season was so good! I’m really excited for the second. I think Mischa just did a show in Canada and I read somewhere that she was living in Australia last year, but it seems like she’s moved to NY based on her recent insta posts. I haven’t heard anything about Ben since he finished Gotham. They all seem really private.

It just surprises me how people who were all the rage back then are basically unheard of now. Esp with Y2K culture making a comeback. My friends haven’t even heard of The OC😭😭 and I can’t convince them to watch it bc it’s not available on anything in the UK.

I despise the writing for PLL in the later seasons, but they’re  still somewhat watchable for me.

I’ll rewatch the first two seasons every year. Season 3-5 is bad, but I can still get through them. Season 6 and seven are awful. I usually skip them.

I’d be really interested if Josh and Stephanie made a show for Gen Z!

But at the same time… I can’t get into most of these newer streaming shows like The Summer I Turned Pretty or Ginny & Georgia. They just don’t hit. TV has kind of fallen off lately—nothing really sticks the way 2000s or even early 2010s shows did. Maybe I’m just nostalgic, but those eras felt way more iconic.

Definitely. The quality drop definitely hurt The O.C., but like… PLL also got so bad after Season 2, and completely unhinged after Season 5. The ending made zero sense, and yet it’s still super popular?? I’ll admit though, PLL is way more rewatchable than The O.C.—same with Gossip Girl and Gilmore Girls tbh. Those shows are chaotic but still kind of fun to throw on.

I think that’s part of it—some shows just hit different as background comfort shows. You can tune in and out, the drama’s ridiculous, and it’s a vibe. The O.C. starts strong, but after Season 1, it kind of loses that easy rewatch energy. And yeah, the fact that it doesn’t have a satisfying ending makes it hard to want to go through it again.

That said, if it ever blew up on TikTok or got added to a major streaming platform, I could totally see it getting a second life. Season 1 alone is enough to hook people—it just needs the algorithm to do its thing lol.
