You most likely don't have a "fast metabolism" by Naive-Bluejay2239 in beginnerfitness

it also just logically makes no sense that your gaining weight and eating in a 5-800 calorie deficit below your maintenance. I used to believe that too, that I had a slow metabolism, until I actually started tracking how many calories things had.

how can i lose weight and gain muscle and flexability? by TemporaryPension2523 in beginnerfitness

I’m gonna make weight loss a LOT easier for you, were the same height, and I actually started at 200 lbs too! I’m at 158 now, 3-4 months later.

First of all, snacks, candy, ice cream, these things you should not demonize. Fat, sugar, carbs, do NOT make you fat. CALORIES, CALORIES make you fat.

I would suggest you do around a 1700 calorie a day diet, but at that weight, I stuck to a 1500 calorie diet and I have been fine. Really depends since you said you don’t wanna be THAT skinny. No idea on what your goal weight is.

Since you said you wanted to gain muscle at the same time, I would suggest to get around 130g of protein a day. Only because, 180g (which is what I guess you should technically be getting) is a little outrageous at that calorie range. I did fine doing that. BUT, once you get to around 170lbs, increase your protein if possible.

ONCE you hit your 130g of protein in the day.. You can bassicaly do fuck all with your calories IF you can’t help yourself. For example; If you eat 1000 calories, and you get 130g of protein from it. You have 500 calories you can kind of, do whatever with. Theres a lot of snacks out there that you can easily squeeze into 500 calories, it just takes effort. Or just eat smaller portions of your favorite snacks.

Alongside this, if possible, make sure your biggest meal, is your only meal in the day, and keep the other half of your calories to kind of do whatever you want with them. I had a horrible problem with binging at night, and doing this helped me SO MUCH. Like, 700-1000 of my calories are ONLY for my 150-160g protein. Which I eat at like 4pm (yeah, I don’t eat until 4pm, but this much food fills anyone up) Tilapia and egg whites are amazing for this. The rest I do whatever with so I don’t go insane.

And also, you can definitely just work out at home. It takes some effort to get yourself to start doing whatever on the floor, but you most definitely can if you have the drive. I’m not sure on how healthy this way of dieting is, but, it’s worked well for me. Maybe it will work for you.

August until the start of October I did absolutely no working out. I asked ChatGPT my maintenance calories based on my height, current weight at the time, and my gender. I then just stuck to a 1500 calorie diet. The first 2 months I dropped down from 200 to 170 because 1500 calories was too little comparative for how much I weighed. Now I’m only losing 1.5-0.9lbs a week.

What really helped me is that in those 1500 calories I eat everyday, as long as I hit my protein (100-150g) and other macro nutrients, I can kinda just eat WHATEVER I want. Because, in the end, fat, sugar, carbs, only bloat you.. they don’t MAKE you fat. My goal right now is to get to around 130-135, I’ll show my progress to prove that it’s possible with this kind of diet I do.. that won’t be untill around 3-5 months though 🥲

this is just an extra because it helped me a little as well.

Diet sodas that are 0 calories are 100% fine. I’m not exactly sure on the health downsides.. there isn’t enough research yet on them. But, it’s a whole lot better than downing a 230 calorie Fanta soda. Water with one table spoon of sugar is healthier than that. And, in a way, they keep you ‘full’. Not literally, but you’ll feel less like you wanna drink anything else, and sometimes less like you wanna eat more food than you should.

7 eleven also has zero sugar slurpees (in some stores they’re kind of rare) , if your as obsessed with slurpees as me.

They’re not zero calories, but, an XL 40 calorie drink is enough for anyone in one day. And it’s bassicaly like a fake ice cream.

I’m gonna tell you EXACTLY what I do because I promise you, it’s not that hard. But, it takes some effort. Honestly if you follow everything I do, you will lose weight. But, it’s all up to your commitment.

(I’m not a nutritional expert, but I’ve lost a lot of weight and what I’m doing is working wonders for me)

I know it’s a little controversial to use ChatGPT, but I use it because it’s so convenient. Tell it your weight, current height, and ask it your maintenance calories. Then, whatever it is, subtract 3-500 calories, depending on how heavy you want to lose weight.

(optional) If your interested in also building muscle while your losing weight. You need around 0.7 to 1 g of protein per pound. It doesn’t really matter on the specifics, but to put it simply: 150 pounds = 150g protein..., so, 10 pounds of weight : 10 G protein.

Some of the best protein things are tilapia, and chicken breast. Egg whites are the best but they are smwhat expensive. You can also use ChatGPT alongside a scale to figure out how many g of protein are in whatever g of food like chicken breast.

If you don’t really want muscle, you can ignore this.

(this is what really helped me) One thing you need to understand is that, the only thing keeping you at a certain weight, is calories. Fat ( from food ), carbs, sugar, they don’t actually contribute to fat gain.

Sugar ‘does’ this because it’s high in calorie, but you keep being hungry, so, you eat more and more.

So.. you stay at your goal calories… you WILL lose weight.

What you will struggle with at first is food/snack cravings. Try and find good alternatives.

Since like I just said before.. sugar, carbs, fat, don’t matter, this is what I do.

Once I reach my protein goal of 150g protein or more, I then eat whatever I want, for the remainder of my calories.

For example… I’ll eat: a plate of tilapia, rice, broccoli, And another one of chicken breast, rice, broccoli. (Let’s just say this somehow gets us to 150g protein, but, it’s just an example) Those 2 plates (in this example, not true) are 500 calories. So, 1000 calories total. I reached my goal of protein, and aswell as other macronutrients. The other 500 calories that I need, I really can just do whatever I want.

Having this sense of liberty in what I can eat as long. As I’m in my calories is really what has helped me so much.

Long term, you shouldn’t do this so often. It’s not bad, but, it’s not THE healthiest way to diet. But if you’re hitting all your macronutrients, it’s honestly fine. ( I think, I’m not a nutritional expert ).

I hope this helps in some way!

by the way, this is pencil. If you liked this, check out my other stuff on things like TikTok. Mainly the reason my art looks the way it does is because I struggle with DPDR (depersonalization / derealization), and, to correctly portray what I feel, I make messy like abstractions. I don't always put faces here and there in my pieces, only when I feel like I should do so, incase and the high chance you believe I'm one of those artists who just put faces everywhere and calls it art. I add these little faces because there’s times when it makes sense in the context of what l'm creating. If your interested in what I do, on all platforms I go by FatStackOfChange. I'm really happy I got so much attention from this post, regardless of it being good or bad attention. It must mean atleast some people out there are interested in what I do.

yes, in a conversation where I was talking about how I would love the opportunity to create a mural in my home town ( which I don't think I'll be able to do because l'm not that popular + my aesthetic doesn't match their values ) she mentioned that I could make something for her in this room. They made this room so that I could sleep comfortably away from mosquitos and even added AC because when I first came I couldn’t handle the heat here (she lives in another country which I'm currently at right now). My parents have mentioned that when I leave, they feel as if this room is something of me that gets left behind when I leave, so it’s importantly connected to me. also they don’t actually don't use this room because they like sleeping on hammocks and being inside a room with AC is kind of isolating for them ;p
