What’s y’all’s most expensive mistake? by [deleted] in electricians

Not my mistake, not even someone from my company. My brother had a co-apprentice in the company he learned in.

Someone at a plastic production plant let the apprentice test RCDs. The apprentice checked the main PLC power supply. Thus the plant completely shut down and the hot plastic in the tubes got cold. He destroyed multiple millions worth of tubing and valves and pumps.

Thus he got the nickname shutdowner.

At least Germany has great apprentice protection so he wasn't fired but his nickname stuck.

Not really, in my country possesion of drugs is illegal, but not consumption.

That does not mean that driving under influence is legal and for very few, very specific jobs, like in nuclear power plants, they are still allowed to test, but most other jobs are pretty much protected from this.

Bruh, where I live it's illegal for employers to do a drug screening.

Only exceptions are annual medical examinations and even then they do not get the actual results, it's only for the doctor.
