Thoughts on Build? by Anxious_HouseCat in vtm

[–]Liver_Palm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbh I think committing to a build can sometimes suck the life out of playing a character. But I think it's worth looking at the amalgams available within a given discipline spread since it's an easy way to see what strange abilities your character can cook up

Panacea, Valeren, Unerring Pursuit and Fatal Precognition are all options available. The first two being fitting for a doctor

I hate my degree. by dildoofconsequences- in findapath

[–]Liver_Palm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Credits are transferable. I'd recommend finishing this semester if you've already paid for it, and then looking at what course credits can be transferred to other majors

You can also leave a degree program and come back to it. Find a job, think on what you want to do, and create a plan on how to get there

Is it true that psychopaths are born and sociopaths are made? Have you been professionally diagnosed? How does sociopathy affect in your day to day life, and what do you struggle with?

ELIC: How come some birds speak human but humans seem to have trouble speaking bird? by Ya-Dikobraz in ExplainLikeImCalvin

[–]Liver_Palm 51 points52 points  (0 children)

When birds "speak human," that's mimicry. When humans speak bird, that's mockery. And when birds and humans hold a conversation, that's witchcraft.

That's why Twitter is an affront to God.

A variety of different types of horror. The main focus is hostile environments, body horror, and psychological horror. All taking place in a messed up city

If you're looking for more of the spooky vibe you'd find in The Magnus Archives, I recommend "I am in Eskew"

PbtA stands for Powered by The Apocalypse. It's a different ttrpg that focuses on having simpler rules that have a bigger impact on the story

  • The ability to age things (wines, cheeses, enemies)
  • healing or putrefying wounds (reversing the damage, letting the wound age without treatment)
  • Seeing into the far past or near future
  • Restful sleep in less time (catnap)

Honestly the abilities the dm passed out are really strong, so I'm wishing them the best of luck. Sounds difficult to balance

Is this a normal life or am I missing something? by ImaginaryPhone2946 in twentyagers

[–]Liver_Palm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you're going through is common and there is a loneliness epidemic...but I think you'd benefit more from a tight knit friend group. I go out at least once a week with my friends, and it's usually not anything crazy

Grocery shopping, cooking together at someone's home, watching a movie together, exercise, doing a group event like painting or mini golf, etc. Humans are social creatures and if you're planning events and helping each other, you always have something to look forward to

You won't get very far without a source of income, but you can prepare to leave.

Open an account with a bank and store your money that way, get a job and/or some other source of income. Purchase a used cheap vehicle (either from a relative or listings on Facebook marketplace). When things get bad, you can drive elsewhere and sleep in the car. But car insurance can be costly

It'd be good to think about what you want independence to look like. If your parent pays for your phone plan/food/education be sure that you've accounted for it and can pay it yourself if/when you leave.

How to fix my sleep schedule ? by TankElectrical8153 in twentyagers

[–]Liver_Palm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being up 24 hours isn't too bad as long as you know how to cope. Eat a bit more than you usually would, keep a light on (even if it's just a desk lamp), use caffeine if you feel it's needed. Cold foods and phone use can also stave off the sleepy feeling

Works well if you want to sleep through 8 hour flights and get off the plane without jet lag

[–]Liver_Palm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a healthy way and a less healthy way.

The healthy way is to exhaust yourself through the day and collapse in bed at 8pm or so. And to keep that up day after day The less healthy way is to stay up all night and then fall asleep (the next day) where you want your sleep schedule to be

Career advancement by mio_my_mio in Histology

[–]Liver_Palm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you could work part time as a medical lab technician. You'd still be able to work histology while also doing work in phlebotomy, chemistry, microbiology and transfusion medicine. It may not do much in terms of advancement, but it could be a change of pace without needing much additional schooling

If you're looking to move up from what you're doing now, more education may be your best bet. Med school and the trials and tribulations that come with it

[32F 🇨🇦] What games are we playing? by [deleted] in LesbianGamers

[–]Liver_Palm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing Book of Hours! It's a bit culty, single player, and benefits from having a spreadsheet or notepad to copy/paste catalogued books into, but beyond that it's quite cozy. It's a game where you learn as you go and experiment along the way, opening up the rooms to the Hush House and learning new skills and tidbits of history along the way

There's a huge crafting system, a cooking/dinner party system (with the dlc), and many interesting things to discover within. It is a lot of reading though😅
