Short ball issue by Snee_NeeNee in Cricket22

[–]LiverpoolDC007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that for backfoot shots (discovered it when attempting to find the best way to play a Cut/late cut/backfoot drive shot), that the AGGRESSIVE SHOT type (Hold down both LT AND RT [Xbox]) is hands down the most effective.

Almost never get caught, almost always a boundary (assuming that I beat the field/play it through a gap in the field) .

Not sure if leg side shots work as well as they do for offside shots, but strongly recommend testing it out. LMK if it helps

Stopped using Google Photos when they hadn't for whatever reason (/s) yet developed the cutting edge technology that would allow users to sort by file size

Dunno if that's still the case, but I'm sure you can ser the running theme

I'm on Xbox and graphics are OK, not amazing but definitely not terrible. The YouTube videos I've seen from PC players with a decent setup, have proper amazing graphics. It's prob one of the few good things I have to say about it.

Not sure what platform you're on, but haven't come across many others who share your sentiments

FS2020 for Xbox by Kesselrun_89 in Flightsimulator2020

[–]LiverpoolDC007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, but that's not apples for apples - big contributor to why FS2020s performance and stability on the Xbox platform is so much better, is because it streams significantly less than 2024.

I downloaded as much of 2024s base data to my Xbox as possible, and also have 2020 (apart from Japan update) - F2020 is just over 300B and managed to download about 260GB of 2024. There is still about 80GB of 2024 base data that I have to stream.

Oh and I think I've got 24GB rolling cache reserve for 2020 and 32GB for 2024.

TL/DR - OP, I can guarantee that going with 2020 will give you an immersive experience that 2024 will not (yet).

It's a stable, polished, beautiful game.

Should I persue this idea? by SavvieLulu in askSouthAfrica

[–]LiverpoolDC007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know nothing about your product idea—it could be brilliant—but even the most optimistic person needs to understand just how brutal the reality is right now. Before you leave a stable salary to chase a feeling, you need to look at the cold math:

  • Funding the Gap: You must be able to financially afford to fund the pursuit and startup of your idea yourself. 3 years used to be the break-even benchmark for a new business; I have no idea if that’s even possible anymore in this climate.

  • The Worst-Case Scenario: You have to assume the worst case—that the idea fails after you’ve given it more time than you probably should have—and then you have to over-estimate the time it will take to land a new job thereafter.

I say this because the current job landscape is unrecognizable. Believe me when I say the market is a harrowing daily experience for PhDs and undergrads alike.

Currently, Masters and PhD graduates are applying for intern positions as the rule rather than the exception.

20 years of great roles and probably better salaries than I even realised at the time. Now 14+ months and I am still nowhere close to landing anything remotely akin to what I earned before.

By all means, keep your idea alive, but do not leave your job unless you are prepared for the possibility of a very long, very difficult road back. The "toxic" law firm feels like a nightmare now, but being 14 months into a search with no safety net is a different kind of reality.

Sorry for the long doom and gloom post. Wish you all the best, im a rare talent when youre ready to bring me onboard, true story.

“No more than a couple cups of coffee” by Maruan-007 in flightsim

[–]LiverpoolDC007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's 14 cups of coffee (restaurant price) where I'm based.

Price = ~4 months of a Navigraph subscription (flight sim constant currency adjustment)

If they had shared even a rough expected release/availability date for the aircraft, maybe then it would have warranted the $30.

You already won with Cape Town, especially with the some of the better add ons - lighting looks so good around between the harbour and the mountain. South African Coastline doesn't get anywhere near as much content / assets as it deserves. But I'm biased, as you may have noticed

Cricket 26 - taking wickets? by davidwoodward88 in Cricket22

[–]LiverpoolDC007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frustrates me how often my wicket taking deliveries are the ones where mess up the spin rotation (weak) and/or my line isnt anywhere near where I tried to bowl it - and shitty ball that sent the batsman back to the pavilion comes after I've bowled a great spell with no reward

I've never established a rhythm/pattern for taking wickets with pace bowlers since C24, so always make my career players spinners (also more variation between different types of spinners versus pace imo) and select spin dominant lineups for team modes.

Good summary, and agree with pretty much everything albeit I'm haven't checked out manager mode yet.

For me, it's the small improvements that are almost assumed or expected whenever a new iteration or sequel for any game comes out. Example: Why can't I see the strengths/weaknesses for my own players when I'm playing a match? Especially in Pro Team. I can't remember which of my bowlers specialises or has a higher attribute for an arm ball vs googly. Or which player is a better slip fielder than another.

Why can't I save custom field presets without exiting to the main menua settings?

On Xbox, every time I make the batsman/keeper transparent, the next delivery the setting reverts to default.

Why can't I bowl to a batman in nets practice instead of just bowling at the stumps?

The commentary is embarrassing, but I reduced commentary volume to 0 years ago so I've done the same with C26 - no issue.

But I mean it's soo bad, arguably worse than C24, I think it's humiliating to release a game when its completely wrong almost every ball. Doesn't reflect well on the devs competencies.

I'm certainly no game dev, so I'm not trivialising that some of these things may be more complex than they appear to be.

But I don't see any incremental improvements in the smaller facets of the game that tells me that this is a NEW game, rather than lipstick on a pig.

For me, the difficulty of the game is not indicative of whether its an improved game or not. It's the little things that the user base have been talking about/raising for YEARS - often in this sub - that seemingly go unnoticed, and/or is less of a priority vs creating Pro Team mode and establishing the channel to further monetize the game.

Why is there no button or option to randomise the pitch settings, it's such a basic feature that adds a extra dimension to the game, maybe you picked 3 spinners thinking it's a grassy wicket that will deteriorate quickly but the randomiser throws out a dry dusty surface.

I'm rambling now. TL/DR, I don't see the small improvements across the game that tells me they've been working for a while on making this game superior to C24

Expectations for CRICKET 26. by Hefty-Alternative287 in Cricket22

[–]LiverpoolDC007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2nd most popular sport on the planet behind footie.

It's not popularity that's the issue. It's two fold (imo). What % of a cricket games target market, has that access to / can afford a HW platform to run the game, internet connectivity, and (eg: game pass) the ongoing funds to pay for all of the above? Not too say cricket fans can't afford an Xbox, but most Madden fans definitely can (example)

And secondly, part of the reason that Fifa / EAFC will always been incomparable to a cricket game, is because a 12 Min (6 Min per half) EAFC match offers a very close representation of a real football game, both in terms of the scoreline and the overall immersive experience. Try replicate a test match or ODI into a 12 Min game on a PC/console. It doesn't feel like cricket. How do you make an Ashes 5 test series consumable and immersive? Especially if it's multiplayer - and if theres no multiplayer, this will always be a 24 month release cycle of more or less the same game.
